Awkward Heroes

Chapter 5

Roy's POV

I wiped the sweat away from my fore head and began to chop the tree down. It had about 7 coconuts, at least I think think they are.

I heard a noise coming from the tree behind me. I quickly turned around and saw a baby monkey. Oh no! I think I just killed his mom! Behind me was a dead monkey I was dragging around.

"Um... Sorry little dude. We got to eat...."

The monkey stared at me, then his mom, then back at me. He opened his mouth and several sharp teeth showed. "Ahhggghhhhggggwwwooooo!" It let out a weird growl. Then it attacked me!

I pushed the monkey off my face. It was only 2 feet. I ran so fast because baby monkeys are evil! I learned that the hard way.........

10 years ago

I was with my friend, Ron, at the zoo. We were eating cotton candy.

"So Roy. I'll give you 5 bucks if you go kiss a monkey" Ron pointed to the cage.

"You're on!" and we shook hands.

I snuck in the cage when nobody was looking. All of the monkeys looked at me like if I was a lunatic. (which is true) Anyway I looked for the perfect monkey. There was a small baby one.

"Come on Roy!" Ron was outside the cage with his camera.

"Um.... Ok-okay." And I leaned in for my first kiss.

Before I could open my eyes, I felt the small demon pick me up and throw me against the cage.

"Roy!" Ron shouted.

I tried to fight the monkey, but his parents ganged up on me! And I broke my leg, sprained my hand, and got a black eye.....

Anyway....

I finally reached camp. Everyone looked so awkward. Damian sat cross legged by the ocean, Jason threw bugs into the fire, Raven was meditating (well not levitating since she can't), and Gar was building a sand castle.

"Oohhh! I know! Let's play a game after we cook dis monkey!" I said.

Everyone turned to me.

"I am NOT touching the monkey!" Gar yelled at me.

I took the sack from my utility belt and tossed it to him. It smashed his castle. Out spilled cocouts.

"Hope you like coconuts." I said putting the monkey over the fire.

"So. What game is this Harper?"

"Yah. I rather meditate some more."

"I want to annoy Damian more."

"I need to pee!"

They were all complaining. But I stopped them with a snap. "Hey. So this game is called 'we are not going to die'. So... Just pretend we are on our vacation."

Damian and Jason stopped fighting. "Eh?"

Raven face palmed. "It's getting late. Let's go to bed."

"Fine with me!" Garfield yelled.

"Where?" asked Damian.

"Remember. Our hotel is this way!" I pushed them to a tree.

Damian slept on the sand, he said it was better than sleeping next to Jason. Garfield slept on one branch. So did the rest of us.

"Goodnight" and I drifted off
