The next few days I spent in the hospital, doing make up work for school and thinking about the guy. Why did he give me his blood? Is he a psycho or what? A knock on the door disrupted my thoughts.
"Guess who's going home today?" Derek said as he walked in.
"Susan?" Susan was the stage four cancer patient in the room next to me. She was a really sweet girl, always talking about how her grandma makes the best chocolate chip cookies and how she would give me some when she visits.
"Tempting, but no. I just have to fill out the paperwork and your good to go." He had a twinkle in his eyes that I haven't seen since before that night. He helped me into the wheelchair next to my bed and wheeled me to the main office. We then went to his black Suburban and went to his apartment. He got all my stuff when I carefully made my way up my bedroom. Derek set all my things on my bed and left, telling me if I needed anything to call. I got my phone out and saw missed texts from my two best friends, Megan and Angel. Megan kept on asking why I wasn't at school and about how to solve some math problems. Angels was first about some cute guy she meet at school and then if I was okay. I smiled and answered them both, saying that I wasn't at school because I was sick and had to get antibiotics from the hospital. Angel called and we talked until I got tired.
I put all my things away and went to the bathroom. I was told how to clean and bandage my wound at the hospital. I took a pair of scissors and cut the wrapping off around my side. I undid the other bandage off and hissed at the pain and sight. There was a three inch gash on my side and stitching along the side. I looked at the mirror and took in the rest of my body. There was a long greenish-purple bruise above where my ribs were bruised, the cut along my collarbone peeked out from under my sports bra. The one on my neck had healed to an angry red line. There were other bruises over my arms and legs from where I tried to get away or from where they grabbed me. I put some of the liquid on a cloth and held it to my wound, grinding my teeth as it stung. I then put a clean wrap on the knife wound and taped it there, and wrapped a larger piece around my sides a few times and taping that. I put my pajamas on, flannel pants with polar bears on them and a black tank top, and headed to bed.
Kill her. Stop her before its to late. Finish it off. She's weak. She doesn't know what she is. She has no idea what she is holding. A scream ripped from my lungs as I felt darkness closing around me. I sat up, gasping as I tried to remember the dream. More like nightmare. I lifted my tank top and saw crimson peaking through the white wrap. I sat back and looked at my cat clock. Crap, I'm gonna be late. I hurried to get ready for school when I heard a door shut. I paused, Derek would have been at work already and no one else had a key. I grabbed the crystal lamp on my bedside table and opened the door carefully. I saw a shadow cross the wall and I jumped, ready to hit the intruder.
"AAAHHHHH!!"
"Kate? What are you doing here?" I lowered the lamp and held my side.
"Derek asked me to drop you off at school since I work later. You didn't think things would be back to normal so soon, did you?"
"Oh, I'll get my things." I gave her a sheepish grin and went to get my bag, placing the lamp back.
