When I thought I would miss school when I was at the hospital, I was totally delusional. Nothing had changed. Except my friend Angel. When she met me when I was dropped off, she seemed, different. When the wind caught her hair, it seemed like spun gold floating through the air. She even shimmered, not like Twilight shimmer but like she glowed with her own little sun as a heart.
    "Hey, what's with the look?"
"Uh, nothing, just wanting to get over with whatever I had." I stopped staring at her and looked behind her. I could have sworn there was an invisible wall there. "Where's Megan?"
    "In the gym."
"Ah." We started to the gym and talked about the latest shows when the bell cut us off. I covered my ears and dropped to my knees. The sound was everywhere, like a cave of bats. I looked up and saw Angel mouthing something. She even more different as the bell finally stopped and my ears rung.
"Come on, you have got to tell me what's going on," she looked at me.
"I met a boy," I said flatly as we headed to class, knowing that that would get her to stop asking.
    "Oh? Tell me everything!"
"Nothing much to say, just met him a few days ago."
"So your saying, you met a boy, missed school, and didn't think of him at all, jeez you were sick."
    "Yup, that's it."
She eyed me throughout class until second hour. We met Megan in the hall and went to math.
"Has Angel been acting strange to you?" I asked, eyeing Angel across the room.
"She's Angel, you'll have to be more specific."
"I don't know, maybe I'm just paranoid." That gave me  a laugh.
The rest of the day went by in a blur, teachers talking about stuff you already know, school drama, and the stupidity of half your classmates. When school was over, Angel, Megan, and I went to the local diner to finish up homework. After we were about to leave, I noticed a familiar face.
"Hey guys, I'll catch you tomorrow, I have something I have to do." I said and walked toward the person. "Excuse me?"
The guy turned and took his sunglasses off, leaving a pair of sparkling eyes looking down at me. He smiled and motioned to me to follow him. Knowing that he wouldn't hurt me, I did. We reached a black car, the same one as that night, and he opened the door for me. I looked around and saw Angel gaping at me with Megan giving me the thumbs up. I shook my head, Angel was NOT normal. She would be the one asking me he she could have him if things didn't work out. Also, drooling over me getting in a car with an older guy not including Derek, she just drools over him anyway. I got in and heard the start of the engine. Just maybe I'll find out some answers.
He took me to the park and headed for the trees so I followed. When we went deep enough there was barely any light, he stopped.
"Has the change started happening yet?"
    "What change?"
"You died at the hospital with my blood in you, your heart stopped."
"Wait, what?!" That was a new thing for me.
"Your heart stopped during surgery. " He finally turned around and looked at me. "Your eyes are different. Your not a Vampire but your not human either. Your something else."
"You're kidding, right? I followed you so you could tell me what happened. I kept your part of the story out from Derek, from Kate, from my best friends and your telling me you don't have answers? Well guess what, screw you." I turned around and headed to the road. This jerk was playing me, for all I knew he was with the group that night. He probably helped me so I wouldn't tell anyone, or so he could finish the job. Gosh, I should have listened to Kate. I made it to the treeline when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Let go of me!" I spun around but he caught my other wrist. "Let go of me or I swear I'll tell them everything. Whatever this key thing is about, I'll tell them." He let me go. I started back to the road.
"You won't be able to find out about yourself alone. I can teach you, help you." I turned towards him.
"If you help me, and I mean if, its on my terms."
"I wouldn't have it any other way, " he said with a smile. I turned back around and left, calling over my shoulder.
    "It's a deal!"
