I got home around six, plenty of time before Derek would be home. When I turned the corner to the living room I saw the words 'I'll finish it' in what looked like blood smeared on the wall above the TV. Sighing, I took a picture and then got a bucket full of soapy water. The guy would have to tell me about it later, I didn't want Derek to see it and I wasn't about to think anymore about what my life might be like from now on. Within a half hour the it was off and Derek came home. He dropped his keys on the table and walked towards the sofa.
"Sit down." I went and sat on the sofa next to him, remembering all the times we stayed up late, watching movies and eating popcorn. "Why didn't you tell me?" I looked at the ground, knowing that he was talking about what the men did to me. What they tried to do.
"Tell you what exactly, I couldn't defend myself? I didn't learn anything? Well I tried."
"You did great, what I meant was that why did Kate have to tell me about what that group did?"
"Because I knew what you would want to do."
"Heck with what I want to do, I'm not stupid enough to go after them alone. I am going after them, but it has to be on the side of work. The others are going to help." I thought about it, Kate, Derek, and his other coworkers going after the group of guys.
"You can't." I said, thinking of the leader. "They aren't up your department."
"They are if my families on the line." He looked at me and I hated what I had to say next.
"We aren't really family you know."
"Not by blood but by everything else."
"I-I'm going to get ready for bed." I got up and hugged Derek, leaving him alone in the room that would never be the same. It used to be for movies and game nights with friends, now it holds the memories of blood and secrets.
As I reached my room I saw that my phone had a message on it. I'll see you tomorrow.
It had an unknown number. Of course he would have my phone number, he just got stalkery. Great.

When I woke up in the morning, there was a shadow by my window.
"Holy shiznuts!!!" I reached over and turned on the lamp. It was him. "Okay, boundaries are going to be set, you can't just come in my room!" He turned around and his eyes caught the light. He threw a bag at me and told me I had five minutes to get ready. "What about Derek?"
"He's already gone, apparently there is a homicidal maniac on the loose." He gave me a sly smile. "Don't worry, its not me, I already took care of him." Yup, wasn't gonna ask. I went to the bathroom and opened the bag. Pulling out several knives, I found a black tank top, black leather pants, military boots, also black, and a black leather jacket. Seriously, what is with the black. I put on the clothes and looked in the mirror. Crap, I look like a vampire, with too pale skin and dressed in all black. Oh my gosh. It all made since now, why the guy drank my blood, why I was fed blood. I walked slowly out of my bathroom and sat on my bed.
"I won't go with you until I get the whole story." He looked at me and gave a small laugh.
"I guess you mean why I helped you like I did?"
"That, and why I was ready to let that creep drink my blood." He looked even paler, his green eyes going wide.
"He compelled you?" He sounded aghast. "Its worse than I thought. Yes, you probably figured out what I was. Don't worry, I don't kill or take fresh blood, but that doesn't mean others don't. Apparently some of us have the ability to compel while others just have heightened senses and strength. We aren't anything like Dracula, none of us are like the stories, except pixies-"
"Wait pixies? There are more than vampires!" There it was again, that little laugh.
"You really don't know anything, do you? Ah, so much to learn, let's go so he have enough time."
