Intro:
I sit on my favorite swing at the run down park near my house. The steady "creak creak" of the rusty chains cut through the brisk fall air. My legs pump back and forth, I feel weightless as the swing reaches the peak of it's ark. I'm sixteen, and shouldn't spend my time at this place anymore. I push my feet into the damp dirt below me, stopping me. Slowly, I start my walk home. The fallen leaves crunch under my worn black Converse high-tops. An older women walking a dog passes by me. "Hello, sweetheart. How are you today?" She asks very sweetly. I give her a small smile, but do not say anything back. Not because I am scared, not because she is a stranger, not because I am rude, but because I am mute.
