The Story of Our Love

Chapter Seven

I was awakened by my annoyingly loud piece of crap I call a phone, indicating a call from Riley.

Groaning, I stretched for the phone that was laying on my nightstand.

" Wake up sleeping beauty!" she yelled into the phone.

I cringed and covered the speaker," Why do you have to be so loud, I WAS SLEEPING!" I exclaimed grumpily into the phone."

" Get your lazy ass up, I'll be over in ten minutes to get you ready," and with that she hung up the phone in my ear.

" ARRGHAH!" I screamed into my pillow.

 The party started at 8:30 pm and she was waking me up at 7 in the morning!

Realising that Riley could be here any minute, I got up and headed to the bathroom to have a long, hot shower with my favourite cucumber body wash.

Afterwards, I wrapped a towel around my dripping, wet body before going back to my room.

I checked my phone to see if Riley called back but a text message from Jordan came up instead.

My heart immediately skipped a beat as I read it.

Jordan: Can't wait to spend time with you at the party*wink emoji*

A big grin made its way unto my face as I threw my phone on the bed and began putting on my undergarments.

Suddenly Riley came bursting in my room.

" Ahhh!" I screamed, chucking a pillow at her.

She was dressed comfortably in a grey over-sized hoodie with black leggings and flip flops while her blue hair was piled on the top of her hair in a messy top knot.

Dodged the pillow, Riley  began laughing her butt off.

" Can't anyone get a little privacy these days?"

She paused, pretending to ponder my question," Nope," she said while throwing herself unto my bed," now hurry up and get dressed so we can meet up with Lexie to shop for a few things before the party."

I raised my eyebrows," We're just gonna do our hair and nails."

I huffed and stomped over to my closet like a spoiled child, throwing on a black and white tribal leggings with a over-sized maroon sweater and black uggs. 

I grabbed my brush, fixing my hair into a sloppy messy bun," Let's go," I said, grabbing my phone and a shoulder bag before heading down the stairs.

" Where are you going Avery?" Joe asked me causing me to roll my eyes in annoyance," Out."

" Avery speak to your stepfather with some respect," my mom said sternly. I rolled my eyes again," I'm going shopping with Riley, Joe," I said smiling sweetly at him.

He shook his head in amusement, pulling a couple dollars out of his wallet," I don't want your-" I started to object but the glare my mom sent me immediately shut me up and I took the money from Joe," Thanks Joe," I said through clenched teeth.

" Any time kiddo," he smiled, ignoring my crudeness and patting my head.

I gritted my teeth as I grabbed my car keys and marched outside to my car," That's just like me and my stepdad," Riley chuckled," only I'd have thrown back the money in his face then slammed the door."

I chuckled, starting the car," He's just so annoying," I scoffed while Riley turned on the radio," I know how you feel, sista,' she sighed.

" So where are we gonna meet Lexie?" I asked," At the mall," Riley replied, texting away on her phone.

I parked my car, grabbing my shoulder bag and locking the doors in the process and jogging in the light snow to catch up to Riley," Let's go eat first," I said, rubbing my stomach," Okay but let's make it quick, we have hair appointments at twelve noon and we have a lot of stuff to do."

" I thought you said just a couple things," I whined, giving her a look of disbelief," Calm down Av," she said batting her hand at me as she dragged me to the food court.

I sat down as Riley went to order my breakfast, taking out my phone so I didn't look like a loner," Hey Av," a familiar voice said as I heard the chair in front of me squeak. I looked up to see Jordan carrying a pink shopping bag from Forever 21.

I raised my eyebrow at the bag and Jordan groaned in annoyance," Lexie's been dragging me all over the place with her," he said motioning to Lexie who was in the line with Riley, chatting away. I leaned across the table and patted his shoulder, feeling sparks of electricity which I ignored," I feel your pain brother." 

Jordan chuckled and smiled at me," You look beautiful," he said out of the blue, causing me to choke on air and blush profusely," What?" I asked, hoping I heard wrong and also praying I didn't," I said you look beautiful," Jordan repeated, brushing his thumb against my hand and setting it on fire," Thanks?" I said but it came out as more of a question.

" I'll tell you everyday until you get used to it," he smiled, an unknown emotion shining in his bright green eyes," O-okay," I stammered, staring into his eyes," Av I think-"

" Avery boo!" Lexie exclaimed, carrying  a salad and a cup of something in her hands," Is that all you're eating," Jordan asked horrified as she sat down beside him," Well yeah," she exclaimed," do you know how many calories are in that thing," she said pointing at my bacon, egg and cheese biscuit from McDonalds," That's real food," Jordan muttered, taking a long sip of my latte.

I didn't glare at him because I was too caught up in the fact that he put his mouth on my cup so that's like a second hand kiss. I blushed and was about to take a bite of my sandwich.

" Wait!" Riley exclaimed causing me to pause mid-bite," eating contest," she smirked, challenging me.  

I glanced at Lexie who had a disgusted look on her face as she watched us and Jordan who had an amused look on  his face," Okay," I said, accepting her challenge. Riley hunched over her food, getting ready to chow down.

Go!" she exclaimed, biting into her sandwich. I quickly bit into mine as well, chewing as fast as possible. After a while, my mouth began to get tired and I began slowing down a bit.

Glancing over at Riley, I realized she was groaning and holding her stomach," You win," she managed to let out before rushing to the bathroom. I sighed in reilef," That's my girl!" Jordan exclaimed, rubbing my arm up and down.

" How come you never call me your girl?" Lexie whined, snaking her arms around him.

Jordan sighed in annoyance, unhooking  Lexie's claws from around his neck," I've gotta go Sunshine," Jordan said getting up and giving me a quick kiss on the nose," What about me?" Lexie pouted in her annoyingly high pitched voice," Oh bye Lexie," Jordan said ignoring her demand for a kiss and instead patting her head.

" Let's go girls or we're gonna be late for our appointment!" Riley exclaimed scaring the shit out of Lexie as she popped out of nowhere," Yeah," I agreed, hastily finishing off the last bite of my food, not noticing Lexie was glaring daggers at me.
