I lean, staring out of my kitchen window, with a mug of coffee that has now turned cold clutched between my palms. It’s snowing today. I hate those days. I watch girls walk past, carrying school bags, and secretly pray for them. They seem so happy. The chances are they will come home tonight as normal, and get on with their lives. They’ll probably not do their homework, talk to their friends and listen to music. I needn’t worry so much. But I can’t help it. Because that’s not what happened to Phoebe Gold. She was taken, and her whole world fell apart, along with the worlds of everyone close to her. After what she went through, there was no way anyone could truly fix her.
