It had been hours since arriving home. I've been laying on my bed for the whole time. When we arrived home, Ryder and David went to their rooms. I could hear yelling but I didn't listen in. Whatever they were fighting about had nothing to do with me. I'm not the type of person to eavesdrop on someone's conversation. No matter how curious I was.

I heard the shower of the bathroom start. David and I share a bathroom, that is conjoined to our rooms. I sat up from my laying position. I hoped Ryder was still hear. Knowing him, he probably was. I got up and walked to the room next to mine. David's room. I slowly creaked the door open and peered in. Sitting on David's bed was Ryder. He looked up from his phone when he heard the door open. A smile lit up on his face when he saw me.

"Angel! Hey! How are you feeling?" I walked over to him, sitting next to him on the bed.

"I'm okay. What were you guys fighting over earlier?" Okay I might, I was curious. I might pry but I don't exactly eavesdrop.

"That doesn't concern you," he said.

"What does it concern then? I heard you guys fighting but I didn't want to eavesdrop. So I thought I'd just ask you. I knew David wouldn't tell me."

"And you thought I would," there was slight humor in his words. "Darling, I'm not saying anything. It doesn't concern you. It concerns David and I."

"Okay," I looked down into my lap.

"What happened today?" he asked. When we got home, no one bothered to ask that and I was dreading the moment someone brought it up.

"What do you mean?" I look back up into Ryder's baby blue eyes.

"You know what I mean. After school, what happened? You came to the detention room, the teacher wasn't exactly happy about that either. But you had tears covering your face and you cheek was red like someone slapped you."

"Nothing happened. I swear. I'm just stressed about school and my mom and everything," I lied.

"I don't believe you. I think something else is going on. You weren't always like this. You're constantly upset and it upsets me."

"I'm fine," I said giving him a faint smile, resting my hand on top of his to reassure him. I knew he didn't believe me. I sighed in relief when he dropped the subject.

"David's mad," Ryder said after a minute of silence. He looked at the door to the bathroom.

"About what?"

"About you going to the party Friday night. I told him and he went all ballistic on me," Ryder shrugged. "He'll get over it."

"Was that why you guys were fighting earlier?"

He nodded. "That was part of it. Yeah." He turned to look back at me, giving me a smile. "I just think he's a little protective of his little sister."

"Yeah. It gets annoying after awhile," I confessed.

"I'm surprised he let you have a boyfriend since he's so protective over you," he laughed.

"He doesn't like Connor." If only David knew what he's like when we're alone.

"Well I don't either. He's been friends with my brother for years now and he's a complete dick. I don't see what you see in him." I looked away at his comment.

"Yeah, he's actually really sweet. At least to me." Lies. All lies. I heard the shower stop. I snapped my head in the direction of the bathroom door. A minute later, David walked out wearing pants but no shirt.

"Ew, put a shirt on!" I laughed.

He rolled his eyes which caused me to giggle. "My room, my rules."
