Midnight on the Beach/afi

   "The water's not that cold, babe," Ashton shouts. 

   "Do you remember what happened in Jaws?" 

   "I'll protect you." 

   "Fine," you begin," but if a shark comes toward us, I'm ditching you." 

   Without a word, he picks you up over his shoulder. You scream and protest as he laughs. As he moves around, you notice the water begins to glow. 

   "Ash..." 

   "Yeah, babe?" 

   "Why is the water glowing?" 

   "Well," he says as he shifts you onto his back," there are these things called Noctiluca scintillas – also known as 'sea sparkles'- they are a species of dinoflagellate that feeds on algae, plankton and bacteria." 

   "Look at you being a nerd," you say, smacking his shoulder playfully. 

   "I'll drop you." 

   "Just kidding." 

   You spend the rest of the midnight laughing and playing in the glowing blue water. He was amazing, all nerdy but somehow hot. All you knew was that you loved him, and nothing could ever change that.
