"Hello South Korea!" Bianca blurted out as soon as she reached the end of the jet bridge.
She is just filled with excitement, to feel tired from her travel. She had to travel from her hometown to the airport for 4 hours and had to endure another 4-hour flight from the Philippines to Incheon, but to her it seemed like she just had a 5-minute ride. The excitement felt like a really good tingling feeling coursing through her entire body.
"I'm finally here!" She said giddily.
She slung her studded black leather backpack on her left shoulder, fixed the knot of the plaid shirt around her waist, smoothed her locks and started to walk towards the baggage carousel. She patiently waited for her luggage with a wide grin plastered across her face. When she got her bags she began to look for the nearest arrival exit. Her best friends, Chelsea and MinHyuk were picking her up.
"Bbbbbbbbbbbbb!" Someone screamed. Bianca turned to look for the familiar voice; she ran towards her best friend and gave her a big hug.
"I'm so glad you're finally here!" Chelsea exclaimed while almost choking Bianca with her tight hug.
"Ack! Chels. CAN'T. BREATHE." She said trying to catch her breath.
Chelsea apologized and released Bianca. "I still can't believe you are here!"Bianca and Chelsea have been best friends since high school and they both knew what they wanted and what their dream was. That dream -- to fall in love and live in the city they fell in love with the first time they visited. Seoul.
The girls are complete opposites physically except for their height and hour-glass figures. Bianca has hazel colored almond eyes, long dark brown hair and light beige skin. Chelsea has jet-black colored eyes, black medium length bob and pale white skin. However; none of these qualities hindered them to build a strong friendship.
Their plans changed after high school. They still wanted to live in Seoul but this time, make people fall in love with their food as the fruit of their new-found passion, cooking.
They enrolled in one of the Philippines' finest culinary schools; they had their staging under one of the country's top chefs; and graduated on top of their class. Right after graduation, they put up two restaurants. Both did well under their parents' managements. They then decided, that it's time to up the challenge.
"Hey, babe?" Chelsea called out to her fiancé.
"Could you put B's stuff in the trunk, please?" She said sweetly.
"Hi MinHyuk!" Bianca greeted him with a quick hug. "How's our best friend been treating you?" She asked with a chuckle.
"Oh, well. You know my baby, it's always a rollercoaster ride with her." He answered grinning as he placed an arm around Chelsea and gave her a quick peck on the cheek.
"Welcome to South Korea!" He smiled widely.MinHyuk is a band member in South Korea. He plays the drums. However; he also wanted to be a chef so, he chose to go to the Philippines to get a degree. He met Chelsea and Bianca in school; the three have been inseparable ever since and the rest was history.
Chelsea and MinHyuk dated for 5 years before he popped the question on their 5th anniversary. Chelsea then moved to South Korea to meet his family. She also started to help in his family's business and supported Minhyuk's music career.
"Okay, lovebirds! Cut it out!" Bianca said faking a slight annoyance in her face.
"Hahaha! Jealous spinster!" Chelsea teased.
"Oh, you're still single B?" MinHyuk asked.
"Thank you very much for pointing that out, Minhyuk. Yes. I am single, BUT by choice." She said, now glaring at the couple."Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" A sudden loud screaming from behind Bianca startled them.
Bianca turned to see what was happening, but a group of girls started running towards their direction, squealing, pushing forward and dragging her along with them.
She tried to wriggle her way out of the growing crowd but it was hopeless. She was already stuck in the middle of the throng, when a big white coaster van arrived.
The crowd continued to scream and push towards the van, causing Bianca to fall as she lost her balance. This is just fantastic! She thought to herself, sarcastically.
Suddenly, Bianca felt hands on her elbows helping her get up. "Hey miss, are you okay?", the stranger asked.
"Ugh. Yes. I'm super!" Bianca answered with full sarcasm.
When she got up, she dusted herself, fixed her shirt and hair before looking at the person who helped her.
When she managed to look up to thank the person, all she saw was the crowd walking away towards the entrance of the airport."Thanks. Whoever you are." She muttered to herself as Chelsea and Minhyuk ran towards her.
"Are you okay, B?" Chelsea and Minhyuk asked worriedly.
"I'm fine. I guess, but, what the hell was that?!" She asked checking herself for scratches.
"Well.." Chelsea started. "That, my beautiful friend, is a mob of fan girls." She continued.
"You remember how we loved k-pop songs back in high school and college? BigBang and Super Junior?" Chelsea said.
Bianca nodded and looked back at the mob. That's when she noticed them holding signs mostly with hearts and glitter.
"Jinjja? Fan girls of who?" Bianca asked with sudden interest.
"The group is called BTS. Their songs are pretty cool, actually. You should listen to them sometime." Chelsea said, dismissing the topic."Okay. All set, girls." Minhyuk said while closing the car's trunk.
The three climbed inside the car and drove away.****
Bianca placed her hand over her mouth and gasped as soon as she laid eyes on her new apartment. Bianca's apartment is on the 15th floor of one of the buildings located in one of the busy streets of Gangnam. It has three rooms, spacious living room and a big kitchen.
"We did exactly as you instructed, B." MinHyuk said.
"Royal blue walls, all-white furniture, bean bags, black kitchen countertops and utensils in the brands you requested, a hammock in the balcony with a superb view of the city and a big painting of tulips in different colors in the living room wall." MinHyuk continued, enumerating every single item written on the checklist that Bianca sent three months before she arrived."She's not called Chef Perfect for nothing babe remember?" Chelsea said with a big smile.
Chelsea gestured a thumbs up at her as if asking if she liked it.
"It's perfect! Thanks Chels! This is truly amazing. I really appreciate this." Bianca said giving her best friend a warm hug.
"I chose a tv with surround sound system bundled with it for a really good price." Minhyuk bragged which Bianca approved with two thumbs up."Okay. Since we did great, I think it's only fair that you to cook for us tonight. Right?" Chelsea suggested.
"Of course!" Bianca answered excitedly.
"Kitchen is fully stocked too, B." MinHyuk said while opening a bottle of wine.
"You're the best MinHyuk-ie!" Bianca shouted as she made her way to the kitchen. After an hour and a half in the kitchen, Bianca started prepping the dinner table for her best friends.
"What's on the menu, chef?" Chelsea excitedly asked. "Smells really good." She said sniffing air.
"Sit down and you'll find out in a few minutes, chef." Bianca answered, winking at Chelsea. "You too, chef MinHyuk!""First dish, baked cheesy Basil mussels." Bianca said while placing the dish on the table.
"Next dish, vegetable salad with anchovy caesar dressing." Bianca continued presenting the dishes she prepared.
"We also have, pasta Aglio Olio. Chels' fave." She said giving Chelsea a wink.
"Broiled salmon and asparagus with dill cream for our main dish. And finally strawberry mojito sorbet for dessert."
Her friends gave her a round of applause for the beautifully presented food.
"Bon appetite!" She said to signal they can start eating.****
After two bottles of wine, some more catching up and a little unpacking, the couple bid Bianca goodnight.
"Thanks for dinner, Biancs! It was awesome as always. Can't wait to get our restaurant started!" Chelsea said as she gave Bianca a goodnight hug.
"Oh, yeah! That. When are we going to talk about the restaurant?" Bianca asked.
"You just arrived and you're already eager to work? Relax for a little bit first, will you?" Chelsea said scolding Bianca for being a workaholic.
"Well, she's not called Chef Perfect for nothing babe, remember?" MinHyuk appearing from behind suddenly, said, making everyone laugh.
Bianca gave in and walked her best friends to the elevator.
"Let's talk about that after the band's tour. Okay?" She concluded.
"Yes. We'll see you in a month Biancs! Enjoy your new home! Love ya!" Chelsea shouted as she and MinHyuk got on the elevator.
"Have a great show! Say hi to the members for me! Love you crazies!" Bianca blew them a kiss and walked back to her apartment.****
