When we arrived at the restaurant, we weren’t holding hands or anything, like a normal couple. Because we weren’t a normal couple at all, and this wasn’t even a real date.

I sighed as we picked our way to a table in the middle of the room.

“Do we really have to be the center of attention.” I complained.

“You do. Duh. Don’t you want guys to notice you?”

“Like they’re going to when YOU’RE here.” I grumbled, sitting in the upholstered chair. It was a semi-big restaurant, with tons of people, even though it was only the lunch hour. As I looked around, I saw several cute guys sitting in booths or at other tables. Ooh la la?

There was a server at our table within seconds of us settling ourselves, even though the place was packed and insanely busy. She gave us our menu’s, and after giving Jared a flirty once-over, asked us in a very peppy voice, “Hi, welcome to Baxter’s Barbeque! My name is Michelle. What can I get you and your date to drink?”

“Oh, he’s not my---” I started to say, but Jared cut me off.

“I’d like a large coke, please. Sam?”. I glared at him while he smiled innocently at me, but still in a devlish way.

“Orange soda, please.” I mumbled, hanging my head. He chuckled as she walked away, and I stuck my tongue out at him. I know, VERY mature, Sam. Good job!

We waited in silence for Michelle to come back, and I took that oppurtunity to stake out the room some more. There was a guy by the window with styled dark hair, and thick glasses, but had a kind of Tom Cruise look to him. He flashed a smile at whoever he was talking to, and it showed his pearly whites. Another cutie, this one in a booth by the opposite wall, was a skinny guy, with chestnut combed back hair, and wore a plaid shirt. He glanced over at me and I smiled slightly, before turning away, my face blushing pink. Face palm!

Michelle came back, and we gave her our orders. Jared gave me a dissaproving look when I chose a ginormous burger for my meal, but I pretended that I didn’t see it. I decided not to tell him about my Taco Bell run. You’d think I’d be full, but I could eat a lot of food for a smaller person.

Was I fat? I suddenly thought to myself. I did eat a lot...and I had never had any eating issues before. I’d never thought I was FAT before. Could that be what was wrong with me, though? Is that one of the reasons why Matt left me? Could overweight people be sexy too, or was that just out of the question?

“Sam?” I snapped out of my daze at the sound of Jared’s voice.

“Huh?”

“I’m going to the bathroom, kay?” he asked me, getting out of his seat. I nodded numbly, still preoccupied with my internal conflict I was in the middle of. I watched him walk away, and found myself staring at his butt. Well, I couldn’t help it! It was so nice!

When Michelle came back with our orders, I quickly dug in to my burger, much to her look of disgust at my sloppy way of eating. Whatever, screw that prissy bitch. I pulled a napkin over Jared’s meal so that it wouldn’t get cold while he was in the bathroom. What was taking him so long anyways?

As I was taking a bite, I felt a prescence next to me. “Hi there.” I male voice said, above me. I looked up to see the chestnut haired guy looking down at me with an attractive smirk on his face, but it faded when he saw my mouth full of food and grease dripping down my chin.

“Hey,” I said back, much to my amusement. His face twisted into an expression similiar to Michelle’s and it took all my will power not to laugh at his face so I wouldn’t choke or spew my burger.
