I didn't sleep at all last night. So many thoughts just raced through my mind. I still had to try out that language and I couldn't wait another second. So as soon as I woke up, before anyone else, I hurried down under the garage and sat down at the desk. I kept writing things down and trying to figure out the patterns.

"So the first letter switches place with the last, and then every other letter- wait, every 2 letters? Hold on.."

I kept trying to teach myself but I was so tired I kept fading out and writing down random things. "Maybe I'll just close my eyes for a minute," and then I drifted off.

I felt my dad shake me awake. I was confused, but when I looked up and saw him there was so much I needed to say.

"Show me how! I can't do this," I begged.

"You got it right, you're doing great on your own. You just need to rest. And remember, you have to make it back before the door comes down," said my dad.

"Wait what? That big thing?"

"Yes. Remember I would always say. It's just a game. But the fun disappears when someone doesn't follow the rules," he explained.

"What rules? What will happen? Tell me more!" I was so confused and kept yelling out questions until I heard s vibration.

My eyes opened slowly to see someone was calling me. It was Tristan, there were tons of texts and 3 missed calls. I fell asleep that's just great. I texted him back asking what he wants. I thought he hated me why's he bothering me? I instantly got a text back.

"I know you're in the garage now come outside," it read. What? How'd he know and is he here? I made my way outside and sure enough, Tristan was standing in front of me.

"Stephanie I'm sorry I had a really hard week and I was rude to you," he apologized. "I don't expect you to forgive me right away, but please give me another chance,"

"It's okay don't worry about it. I need someone to talk to," I said.

"I'm here. Anything you need. Let's go down there and talk I know you want to you've been gradually moving back toward the garage door," he laughed. So we went back down to my spot.

"So I know how to get this language into English now, because my mom showed me. It was my mom and dads secret language. I have the pattern down but I need help. Can you help me translate all these documents?" I asked.

"Yeah of course just teach me the language and we'll figure this thing out," he agreed. So I taught him the pattern and we got to work.

"Press the button labeled A-24, and adjust the temperature until the light flashes green," I read aloud and Tristan followed along. "This is all messed up where is the first document I don't even know what this thing does!"

"Look," Tristan pointed. "There's something framed in that back corner," we walked up to it and translated in our heads. We then looked at each other in shock. This is definitely the first document, in bold at the top of the page it read, "Lotrap Ot Lalalrep Hrtae."

In other words, Portal To Parallel Earth.

While I was standing there in shock, Tristan was back at the control panel doing something. Then I heard that engine running sound, and some beeping.

"Tristan what are you doing it's working!!" I yelled. He continued to play around with things. It looked like he really knew what he was doing. "Did you read something you didn't tell me about?" He remained silent and focused. Then, I heard a familiar sound that I haven't heard since I was 10. It was like a high pitch ringing coming from inside the portal. My dad lied to me. Probably to keep me safe. It wasn't just a game, and he'd never let me inside. So what would happen if someone went inside?

As I was trapped in my thoughts, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The door was being lifted up and everything I've ever waited for was right in front of my eyes. I smiled and teared up, then went to celebrate with Tristan.

As I approached, he looked at me sternly and put his hands up in a "don't come any closer" motion. He backed away from me and towards the opening.

"Tristan what are you doing..."

"I'm sorry, but I need to get away from here," he pressed a few more buttons then ran into the tunnel.

"Tristan no stop!" I screamed and yelled but he would come back. Just then I heard a voice in my head.

"Remember, you have to make it back before the door comes down. The fun disappears when someone doesn't follow the rules,"

I have no idea what's going to happen I didn't read all the research yet! I tried to shut it down but all efforts failed. The last glimpse I got was Tristan's silhouette in the distance, running into a bright light, and being torn apart into billions of tiny cells.
