"Cancer, mister Wilson, you have cancer." The doctor said and I gripped Wade's hand tighter.
"How bad is it?" I asked, hoping, praying that it was a benign cancer and nothing more.
"It's terminal." The doctor paused. "I suggest that mister Wilson should get his affairs in order soon."Wade squeezed my hand tightly.
He can't.
It just can't.
This can't be happening.
It's not supposed to end like this for us.The drive back from the hospital was a blur, my mind was whirling thinking of ways to help my husband, but there was to many different cancers to account for.
I absentmindedly played with his hair as we laid in each others embrace on our bed.
"What are we going to do?" I asked out loud.
"You're going to keep on doing what your doing." Wade said, the first thing he'd said since we got the news.
"But what about you?"
"What about me? Peter, there's nothing for me to achieve."
"Bullshit, what of our talks for adoption, what about your next book, what about our future together?" I glared at him.
"Can we just put this aside, I'm done talking about it." He said turning so his back was too me.
"Wade, we have to talk about it at some point ok?" I said placing a hand on his back. "I love you""I love you too Peter." He said before breaking down into tears. I pulled him tightly against my chest, his tears staining my shirt.
"We'll get through this some how." I muttered into his hair.I woke up before Wade, like normal. I got up and headed to the kitchen and started cooking bacon and hash browns for breakfast. As I was cooking I phoned into work to see if there was anyway for me to work at home, or even take a vacation after our honeymoon time, so that I could spend more time with Wade before it happens. I hung up after we came up with an agreement that I would research the ecosystem in the ocean by my house.
"Morning honey, what smells so good?" Wade said coming done the stair rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Just breakfast." I said plating them up.
"Day six of marriage and your already domesticated?" He teased.
"You wish" I joked back bring our plates to the table.
He took a bite of the hash browns. "Mhmmmmmm so good" he said through a mouth full.
"Hey don't talk with your mouth full" I scolded
"Make me" he teased, I rolled my eyes at him. "So what's the plan for the first day of our honeymoon?"
"Hmmm, I was thinking a nice romantic stroll on the beach." I said looking at my two true loves, Wade and the ocean.
He let out a soft chuckle. "Of course you want to walk on the beach you nerd." He cleared our plates. "Wanna head out now?"
"Let's get dressed first then we will." I said pushing in my chair. We headed upstairs and grabbed each a random pair of shorts and a top. Once dress we headed out of the house walking hand in hand, barefoot on the beach.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A/N: do expect short chapters in this book because sometimes chapters just need to be super short.
