As he looked into the house he could see faded blurs of the word hidden, protection, and luck. All along the walls. As something shiny caught his attention he realized it was his braclet. Without thinking he grabbed the braclet and put it back on, and the faded words began to fade more. he could still see them though, as he looked at his braclet he realized it was cracked.
He didnt bother to cry out for his mom, he knew it was hopeless. He couldn't cry out. And it made no sense for him to try. He then decided to follow the trail of words towards the kitchen, the words formed out languages he didn't know.
Upon entering the kitchen he saw a note his mom had left him. He sighed knowing exactly why she never responded. His mom was on her monthly meeting. The one she had every year. She never told him where it was or why she wasn't allowed to have a cell phone.
So he looked down at the note to see exactly what it said.
"Love you sweetie. Its that time of the year again, sorry i had to go on such short notice. Youll be fine on your own though. xoxox"
As he read this he didnt know if he should feel concern or worried. With the Xavier kid still at school, being a creep. Yet he knew his mom was safe and why she wasnt answering. Nothing he could do about either now. He glanced down at the bracelet, now completely destroyed. He took it off and threw it in the trash. So much for a forever lasting charm braclete. As he felt the familiar beep in his pocket he took it up and looked at the screen.
''We need to talk. Now" The phone number wasnt in his contacts list which was weird because only about 5 people had his number.
"Who is this?" He texted back. As he started pacing around the kitchen still looking at the words, which made no sense to him. The room itself was average, except for these words he had never seen before.
"Call me ghost" Came the reply, reading the text he thought this was someones failed attempt at a joke. A joke that needed to end.
"Or ill just not call you anything at all. Im done with your prank." He texted back and wiped the sweat off his face, the sweat that he hadnt even noticed.
"It was weird following you home, because the house that you went into... Well ive never seen it before, and it wasnt until you vanished that i even realized it was a house. So that tells me you have some pretty strong powers, being able to hide your scent all this time... Well however long you have been there. Mary however has owned this house... She never mentioned that she gave birth to a boy, she said she adopted... If you werent adopted. Your mom is in a lot of trouble. If you really are Ben fisher. I will find out" It was a long text message, and with all long text messages they deserve to be replied with food. Which is exactly why after he ate, he went to his fridge and took out some popcorn. Might as well watch a horror movie, while you have a stalker on your back.
So as his popcorn popped, he went into the living room and put in a saw. He debated between calling the cops and showing them what was in his house, but the way these words blurred. Seemed familiar to him and like he had always been able to see them just didnt look hard enough, so he opted against it. Besides, this entire thing would be solved in a month when his mom got back, why waste the polices time with something that doesnt even seem to be life threatening?
As the microwave went off he paused the movie, as billy the puppet was saying "Your about to play a game." As he got the pop corn and went back into the living room his phone rang. As he looked at it, it was from the same number as earlier so he ignored it. Then replied to the text.
"That sounded like the rambling of the smartest person alive." Though Ben usually ignored people, that didnt mean that he didnt know his way around sarcasm. As he put the first popcorn in his mouth, he yelped.
"argsg" He stopped. Ignoring the pain he had in his mouth. A voice was what he heard, a voice from his own mouth. The first noise that has ever came from his mouth. So he tried again.
"A- A- at." He said, his voice sounded hoarse and rough, as if he hadnt had water for quite a while. He found himself smiling. He had always tried saying these words, but they never came out of his mouth. So he practiced and practiced some more. This lasted all day. While his myterious friend never texted him again, clearly getting the message.
