Sound Of Your Heart

-The Story-

Date: 27 August, 2014
Time: 6:00AM

Brandon wakes up, never excited for the first day of school. No he's excited to see something else. It's his first year of middle school, and Skyler is again..like always waiting at the bus stop. They hug, even though they saw each other literally yesterday. They don't care, they've gotten so used to hugging when one leaves the others house. And they're long, meaningful hugs, longer than just a couple seconds or more. Brandon doesn't know what he's feeling but it's strong and only around Skyler..he's been confused lately about it, but Skyler makes everything better.

"I'm really disappointed we didn't get in the same homeroom, but at least we're in the same team" Skyler exclaims tiredly

"Right, we still have the bus ride and evenings to hang out, and I'm pretty sure we get something called Friday break to hang out with everyone in 6th grade."

"I know...but like, I need you. You've always been by my side. I got so lucky to have you in my 4th and 5th grade classes. What am I going to do...you know me."

Brandon almost feels like he's about to blush, "does he not realised he just said he needed me?" Brandon thinks.

"You'll do great don't worry, remember what we talked about, and just...if you need me that much here"

Brandon hands him a bracelet he's always worn since who knows when. It's a neatly tied in a braid yarn bracelet..nothing fancy. But Skyler knows the history of it and his lights up with a big smile, he knows how much Brandon has cherished this.

"Are you sure? I know how much this means to you..." Skyler says back

Brandon let's out a small laugh "yes I'm sure, it means a lot to me but so do you, so if you insist on needing me, you'll have a piece of me right here."

Skyler is so much shorter than Brandon so he had to look up. Skyler looks him in his kind hazel eyes with a smile. He opens his mouth about to say something but then the bus pulls up, hurrying them to get on.

They go their separate ways when they get to school, sad to see one another finally go on in school, and maybe make some new friends. Brandon feels different, he doesn't like the feeling of Skyler being around other people.

"am I jealous?...why would I be, if Skyler wants some more friends then he can".

Brandon doesn't actually know if he's jealous or just worried Skyler won't be able to make any friends and have to go through school with just him. Anything could happen really, the school day goes by rather fast, Brandon is happy about this because 6th grade can sit with whoever they want on their team. He immediately finds Skyler and when he does he smiles and practically runs for him, excited to embrace him.

"What am I doing?..I saw him this morning, I see him all the time...why do I want to give him a hug everytime I see him?".

It's too late to answer because before he could finish or continue the thought Skyler hugs him instead. They sit and talk about their classes and classmates. Brandon hasn't made any friends, mainly because he knew all the people and none of them had interest in being friends before so. Skyler however said he met two nice girls by the names of Trinity and Madison, although everyone calls her Maddie. Brandon gets the feeling again,

"why TWO girls, why couldn't you be friends with a guy or two instead, or just have me".

Brandon's thoughts toward Skyler have been rather selfish lately. He doesn't really like it either, but he pushes that feeling away again.

"Hey!" says a slightly low voice for a girl from another table.

"Oh hey Trinity, you should sit with us" Skyler says back.

"Who's this?" Trinity points to Brandon

"I'm Brandon, I've known Skyler since he moved here in 4th grade."

"That's cool, so you guys must be really good friends."

"Very..." Brandon trails off not knowing where this is going.

"I hope you don't mind if me and Maddie take care of him for ya since we're in his class".

Brandon feels slight anger, jealousy and what may be sadness. He doesn't want other people just touching Skyler whenever they please and definitely not taking care of Skyler for him. Skyler can see the look in Brandon's eyes...he knows that look.

"No it's ok, I can take care of myself" Skyler blurts out

Trinity is basically locked in a mind battle for Skyler with Brandon. That's when Brandon wakes up by a touch on his hand. It's Skyler, he looks up with concern and grasping Brandon hand tighter trying to tell him to relax.

That day didn't go as well as Brandon had hoped. But he got to see Skyler at the end of the day thanks to the bus. When Brandon gets home he can't stop thinking about that girl, she really got on his bad side and to make it worse, she's in Skyler's class. It's like there's a gap between them that anyone can come between as they please. Brandon didn't like this feeling, he didn't want a gap of any kind but he didn't know how to close it or what this gap feeling even meant. He soon fell asleep not wanting to deal with thinking about or deal with today anymore. After about 2 hours He's woken up by Skyler shaking him lightly and saying his name.

"Didn't you say you wanted to stop sleeping after school?" Skyler says in a kiddingly voice.

"Yeah but I had a lot on my mind and needed the rest"

"I came over because I was worried, you didn't say bye when you got off and just left me at the stop...you usually come over" Skyler says with a nervous tone

"I'm ok, just that girl in your class really got on my nerves, something about her rubs me the wrong way."

Skyler can almost see the frustration in Brandon's eyes.

"Don't worry about her, I don't even think I like her to much, she was just nice enough to introduce herself."

Brandon feels slight relief to hear that, although that doesn't mean they won't come to like each other in the future.
