Vents

He was in the vents.  Again.  He couldn't explain it.  It was just.  Comforting.  He had had a terrible day.  The mission had succeeded, but his best friend was in the medical bay.  And he felt it was all his fault.

Flashback

"Now! Go now!" Aqualad shouted to him.

He had jumped down and landed on the thug punching him in the back in the head, then he flipped over and kicked over two more thugs, then he arrived at the machine, and plugged his glove in.

"KF! Cover me!" he had yelled.

KF had covered him.  Until one of the thugs hit him away and started to come towards the machine."Stop! Or I hurt your little friend here!" the thug said.

He only had one more key to type in and the machine would be down.  He looked at KF and mentally apologized. He clacked the key.  The thug hit KF halfway across the room.  He attacked the thug, blinded with anger for what the thug had just done to his friend.

End of Flashback

He cried into the crook of his arm.  He could only hope that KF was okay.  His best friend.  He had betrayed his best friend.

He crawled across the vents.  The vents.  They were where he had used to hide.  When they played hide and seek.  He remembered they were never able to find him.  Until they coaxed him out with cookies.  He smiled, it was a fond memory.

He looked down the vents.  The vents.  Where he used to go when he was mad.  Bruce was never able to find him.  Eventually Bruce would find him.  And he remembered when Bruce would carry his sleeping form back to his bed.  He giggled, it was a funny thing.

He continued down the vents.  The vents.  Where he and Artemis had hid away from the monsters.  Where they had worked up the courage to face those monsters.  Where they had almost died.  He grimaced at the memory.

He was where he wanted to be.  He replaced the vents and hopped down.  He was in the medical bay.  No one was there besides KF.  He made his way to KF's bed and sat there and cried.

Suddenly a voice,"You okay little bro?"

Robin looked up and smiled, then he hugged KF,"I love you."

"Did you miss me?" KF asked.

"Yep,"Robin replied burying his head into KF's shoulder.

KF smiled.  "You were in the vents again.  Weren't you?"

Robin just smiled and buried his head deeper,"Don't ever leave me KF.... I don't want to lose you."

When the League came back into the medical bay they saw Robin and Kid Flash sleeping in the bed together.  Robin had his arms around Kid Flash and Kid Flash had his arms around Robin.  Batman cracked a rare smile,"Cute."
