Bad Day

Artemis Crock was having a bad day, a very, very, bad day.  

Artemis B07. The computer announced Artemis's arrival at the mountain.

"Artemis! Care to try my new recipe of cookies?" M'gan asked.

"No." Artemis bluntly said and breezed past the offended Martian.

"Want to watch static with me?" Connor asked.

"No." Artemis replied, not bothering to watch the fall in the Kryptonian's face.

"Hello Artemis!" Kaldur cheerily said,"Was your day good?"

"No." Artemis brushed past a confused Atlantian.

"Don't you agree that I am so much better than you?" Wally joked.

"No." Artemis jabbed at him.

Suddenly Robin swung up to her and started to use her as a human jungle gym, "Hey Arty, do you..."

"No!" she twirled around and flung the Boy Wonder off her back,"No no no no no!"

"I was just gonna ask if you liked my new sunglasses," Robin muttered and turned and left, his happy mood transformed into a dejected one.

Artemis looked back at the mountain, her once cheery teammates seemed to had lost their good mood.  Robin was on the couch with Connor who was glaring down the TV like it was Superman.  Kaldur was moping in the kitchen by M'gan who was looking disappointed at her cookies.  Wally was sitting by M'gan, trying to comfort her.

Artemis grimaced, had her bad mood really made the whole team unhappy?

She went up to her room and sat on her bed.  She would worry about the team later.  She needed to focus on what had happened today, at school.  Most people at her school knew already that her family was a whole bunch of criminals, and it didn't help that most of the kids at her school were children of super important people.  So when people started to tease her, well it didn't end well for either side of the argument.

She got off her bed and snuck into Wally's souvenir room.  The team already knew her identity.  She looked at Chesire's mask then she looked down at Sportmaster's.  She sighed.  Was she really like them?  Would she fight with or against them?  

"You know, you aren't anything like them." a voice came from the entrance of the room.

Artemis turned around quickly to see no other than the Boy Wonder standing right outside.

"What do you mean, I'm not anything like them?" Artemis curiously asked.

"Well for one, you are the hero and they are the villains."  Robin began,"You also had a choice, you could've become a villain if you wanted to, but you chose to be a hero."

Artemis stuttered, no wonder they called him the Boy Wonder.

"You also have enormous amounts of willpower, something I doubt your family has."  Robin continued, pausing to look at Artemis's smiling face,"And you also kick butt very well, so I wouldn't worry about anybody teasing you at school." the Boy Wonder smiled at Artemis's surprised face and then slowly left the room, disappearing into the shadows.

Artemis let out a tear, leave it to Batman's protege to make things right.  But as he had made things right for her, she was going to make things up to her team, she really owed them.

She slowly walked down the stairs, thinking.  How did Robin know she was being bullied?  But that was a question she knew she might never figure out.

"Hey guys," she shouted into the cave, facing her team,"Who wants to try M'gan's cookies while we watch static with Connor.

"Sounds like a good idea to me," Kaldur paused,wary about his teammate's plan.

"I'm having a wonderful day, Kaldur by the way, what about you?  Fantastic I hope?  Hey! Do you want to go for a swim afterwards?"  Artemis brightly said.

The Atlantian brightened,"That would be great, my friend!"

"Is the superior Wall man allowed to join?" Wally asked.

"Yeah!" Artemis replied,"By the way, I think I am so much better than you!  Oh and Robin, your new sunglasses are pretty cool."

Robin grinned cheekily from the couch and the whole team sat down beside Connor and Robin, and munched on cookies, while watching static.

Artemis smiled as she watched her teammates laugh and joke, teasing and poking.  Her family may be a bunch of criminals, but she had found a new family, where they were all for one........ and one for all.
