Concerts Gone Wrong

Concerts are not always sunshines and screaming tattooed men. There are many times concerts can go terribly wrong and bad things can happen. Do not let this scare you from going to concerts, but let this help you be aware of what goes down at shows.

Passing Out:

Thankfully I've only passed out once at a concert, but I know it happens to a lot of people. I can guarantee that at least 5 people pass out at every concert you go to. When I went to the Fight For Something Tour with Set It Off and Tonight Alive, I passed out right before Set It Off came on stage. I was third row so security caught me but some people are not so lucky.

Ways To Prevent This:

DRINK WATER. I know soooooo many people who pass out because they refuse to drink water. Please drink water and stay hydrated. If the venue will not let you bring in a water bottle try to sneak it or just buy the overpriced water. I do not care if you have to use the bathroom during your favorite bands set. Hydration is very important. Also make sure that you have a good meal before the show and are not running on an empty stomach.

Getting Injured:

I've been injured many times at a concert and it sucks. I've been trampled, dropped, kicked in the head, and pushed around. At an All Time Low concert last year people were pushing so bad little parts the crowd would give out.

Ways To Prevent This:

Be aware of your soundings. If you are at a large concert venue water bottles can go flying, crowd surfers can come from every direction, and groups of people in the audience can fall down. For example at my most recent All Time Low show people were shoving so bad that the crowd actually collapsed. Be safe and do not go into a big crowd if you are not prepared to get rowdy.

Hit In The Head:

I know this is technically under "injuries" but getting hit in the head is far worse than being hit anywhere else. You could get a concussion and possibly damage your brain. When I saw State Champs and Neck Deep in NYC I got hit twice in the head by a crowd surfer. I got hit so hard I felt my skull vibrate. Thankfully I do not have a concussion and I was okay. Some people are not so lucky and get seriously hurt.

Ways To Prevent This:

ALWAYS be on the look out of crowd surfers and flying objects. My best friend got hit in the neck by Rian Dawsons drum stick and she blacked out for a little bit. Please be careful and be aware. If you know the crowd will be rowdy be cautious. If you leave a concert thinking that you might be concussed PLEASE see a doctor. Better to be safe than sorry.

Mosh Pit Wounds:

So you go into a mosh pit or circle pit and get hurt. You could of fallen down, gotten punched, or run over. Mashing can be very dangerous but also very fun. Sometimes people get carried away and go a little too hard. Usually the heavier the band the more rowdy the crowd will be. Also do not be fooled by smaller venues. Small venues do not equal a calm crowd. It can actually be more dangerous in smaller venues.

Ways To Prevent This:

Observe the pit before you go in. If you're someone who is not 100% that you can handle possibly being punched in the face it might be best for you not to go in the pit. When I was at All Time Low the pits were pretty tame and overall fun. However the mosh pit at Asking Alexandria was basically a bunch of angry white men who looked like they wanted to kill someone. If someone falls down in the pit make sure you pick them up and make sure they are okay. If you see someone who is clearly getting hurt help them.

Leaving Your Tickets At Home:

I have never done it but I know some people have because they are too excited for the concert.

Ways To Prevent This:

Print them the night before and put them somewhere very visible. I always put my tickets on my desk or on the bag I'm bringing to the show.

Puking:

Kinda gross but it happens. I have seen a lot of people get sick at concerts especially Warped Tour. Two out of the five times I have seen All Time Low I got sick and it was not fun. I almost got sick on stage which would of been embarrassing and awkward.

Ways To Prevent This:

DRINK WATER, have a good meal before the show, and do not go to a concert if you are sick. If you feel like you are going to get sick tell someone. Let security know and they can give you some water. If you are actually going to puke or faint security can take you to a separate room to help you out. When I passed out/almost got sick at Set It Off security took me to this side room and gave me some water. They let me relax in the VIP area which was nice and made sure I was okay. Also do not be embarrassed about having to be pulled out of the crowd or getting sick. It is fine and happens to everyone.

Okay fam this is the end! This is an overview of things that can go wrong during concerts. Please do not let this prevent you from going to a show. Concerts are fun and there is more good than bad to them.
