My blonde ringlets were falling over my shoulder as I looked at the complicated problem in the maths text book I was sharing with the guy next to me. I heard the guy sitting next to me grunt in frustration, he obviously didn’t get it either. I looked up to the teacher who was sitting at his desk, typing away at his laptop.

No one I knew was in this class and the seat I was sitting was the only one left. I didn’t bother introducing myself to the class. Thankfully the teacher didn’t ask for introductions, I don’t even think he know I’m here; if he did, he doesn’t know I’m new. I don’t know his name and I couldn’t be bothered finding it out. I didn’t know the guy who was sitting next to me’s name either.

The whole classroom was dead silent and you could hear a pin drop, that’s why the whole class heard when my phone decided to tell me I had a new message. All eyes were on me as I reached into my pocket and pulled out my iPhone that was playing the old fashioned horn thingy. I felt my face heat up slightly and I looked at the text,

Drakey Babe: (he put his number in my phone; hence he put his name in)

Hey beautiful, just arrived in Sydney Domestic. :) come get us xx

“Would you like to share what that says Miss Smith? Otherwise you can put it away.” The old man at the front of the room said grumpily. I sighed and stood up, excusing myself, saying it was a family emergency, and left the room trying to find Nat’s classroom. After a couple of minutes of searching, I decided to just text her, telling me to meet me outside at my car. I went towards my car and sat in it, listening to some music, waiting for a couple of minutes before Nat turned up and slipped into the car.

I put the airport into my Navman and it directed me to the airport. When we got there, we realised we wouldn’t have enough room. Outside the airport I wondered why they were at the domestic one and not international since they were coming from New Zealand. My wonders were answered when I saw Courtney with the big group of guys.

“Dez, how are we going to fit them all in?” Nat gave me an uncertain look as she saw the seven teenagers walking toward the car. I gave her a worried look, having no idea what we were going to do.

“Ugh, Lee, get your fat ass off me,” I heard Chase complain from the back. Thankfully, my car has just a two seats, a bench in the back and one in the front so Nat, Courtney, Drake and I were squashed up the front, I was half sitting on Drakes lap, and he was working the gear stick for me. Josh, Benny, Chase and Liam were all squashed in the back. The car had a big trunk so McKay decided to bunk with the suitcases for an hour or so. I just chuckled at them and kept on driving.

“Guys, cops,” I warned and Benny, who was sharing middle with Josh, ducked and so did Drake, leaning on Courtney’s lap. The police car was coming in the opposite direction and wouldn’t appreciate seeing eight guys in a six people car, “And they’re gone,” I sighted and the boys sat upright again.

I pulled into my driveway and the boys poured out of the car, stretching their limbs and opening the trunk to let out a claustrophobic looking McKay. He also stretched his athletic arms and legs and pulled out everyone’s different coloured suitcase. It looked pretty cool though, Courtney obviously had a pink one, Benny’s was blue, McKay’s was green, Josh had a purple one – probably his older sister’s, Brie – Drake had a red one and Chase had a bright orange AIS duffle bag that was obviously spray painted. It looked cool though, not a half job.

I walked up the stairs and opened the door, Samson and Jodie obviously out, and walked upstairs. I could hear plastic wheels on the vinyl in the hall way and then the bumping of them trying to drag them up the stairs. I led them to Nat’s room; Nat, Courtney, McKay, Benny and Chase all walking in after me. I led the remaining of them to my room, where they’d be crashing for however long they were staying here before actually buying a house to live in. When they do move out, though, I’d definitely go with them, maybe bring Callum with me too.

Chase was eighteen so he could be in charge of us, we’d all get part time jobs after school and on the weekend and stuff so everything will be payed for, plus we could always do dancing gigs or busking for extra cash if we needed it.

Everyone got cosy in the living room that night; Nat and Courtney were sharing the love seat, heads at opposite ends and a doona covering everything but their heads. Benny was in a bean bag; McKay was on a sofa by himself; Josh, Lee-Lee and Chase were just lying on the ground with pillows and doonas, and Drake and I were on my favourite one, the cornered lounge. Even though it fitted seven, Drake and I had it all to ourselves. We were both on the corner, our feet closest to the massive flat screen on the wall. I had my head rested on his chest - our legs tangled – and he had his arm around my waist. One hand was fiddling with my hair absent-mindedly and it was quite comforting. Drake and I had always had some kind of connection.

We were half way through I am Legend when my phone rang. I didn’t really want to get up and answer it so I just answered it there even if they got annoyed at me if I was talking but who gives a pebble.

“Hello Jo, is it important?” I asked once I’d answered the call that said was from Jodie,

“Um, kind of. Samson and Jay See have just gone mission impossible and went to rescue Summer,” Jodie sounded really worried about this,

“Why do you sound so worried?” I asked her. I, for one, was ecstatic that Summer was finally getting rescued and freed.

“Dez, she’s in Eammon’s hands, in his buildings! Why do you think I’m so worried?” She sounded like she was about to cry at that. Eammon was a pretty scary guy. I’ve never met him personally but I’ve heard Samson and Lenny talking about him and stories that Samson has told me.

“Jodie, he’s going to be alright. Where are you at the moment?” I asked her.

“I’m at my sister’s house, I’m sorry for bothering you. I just wanted to tell you that I’m pregnant,” Her sudden mood swig gave me whiplash. I gasped and smiled,

“I’m going to be an Auntie!” I laughed and everyone in the room who was trying to ignore me, turned to look at me with a ‘WTF?’ look. I just smiled totally ignoring them and went back to talking to Jodie, “Look, Jo, he’s going to be okay. He has you and the baby to fight for so you shouldn’t be worrying and stressing so much, it’s bad for the baby,” I cooed her and tried to calm her down.

“That’s the thing, Dez. He doesn’t know and please don’t tell him, I want the right time to tell him if I tell him at all.” Jodie sounded unsure at the end and I decided to leave the room for the rest of the conversation,

“What do you mean Jodie?” I asked my voice stern.

“Well, I was planning on breaking up with him but now I can’t really.” Jodie sounded like she was going to cry again,

“Why would you break up with him?” I asked worriedly but my voice was neutral.

“I don’t know Dez, my heart says that he’s the wrong guy for me,” She sounded sad but the phone sounded like it was snatched out of her hands,

“Don’t listen to her Desiree, it’s just the pregnancy hormones she has no intentions of breaking up with Samson, she’s actually hoping he will propose soon,” Jodie’s sister, Megan, said into the phone. I could hear Jodie sobbing in the background, “Sorry for bothering you, goodbye.”

“See-ya,” I replied and hung up. I sighed and put my phone back into my pocket, walking back into the lounge room. Everyone seemed to be asleep besides Drake. I went and sat beside him, snuggling into his side and he instantly put his arm around my waist, hugging me closer to him. I sighed and felt myself drifting into a deep sleep.
