“Calling all passengers travelling by Qantas to Heathrow on flight QF1543 please make their way to gate 45 please. All passengers on flight QF 1543 to gate 45,” I heard the speaker say from above me. Benny, Courtney and I were all in a café in the airport, Cole on my lap and Daniella on Courtney’s. I was dreading the flight, I know how pull-your-hair-out annoying crying babies can be on long flights and I was just hoping they’d sleep the whole way. I kept them awake all day so hopefully they’ll sleep most of the way.
Daniella and Cole were looking around the airport curiously with a hint of fright from the unknown area swarming with all different types of people; holidaying families; business men and women; random hippies, emos, weirdos and foreigners; bimbo girls with their boyfriends; couples; tourist groups and the occasional group of flight attendants and pilots.
We got up and made our way to gate 45 to board our flight. I got out our passports and plane tickets and we boarded the plane swiftly. We found our seats, Cole sitting on my lap and Danielle on Benny’s, and waited for the plane to take off so we can get this around twenty three hour flight over and done with.
Thank the heavens that Shanae had booked us first class because otherwise it’d be the worst flight in history.
“Good afternoon, passengers,” I heard a male voice over the intercom, “This is your captain speaking. This is flight QF1543 to Heathrow, London. I hope you enjoy your flight with Qantas. Some of you may be frequent flyers but we advise you still watch our cabin crew demonstrate the emergency routine. Your present time is twenty three past twelve PM and in Heathrow it is twenty three past two AM. Thanks,”

“Good morning, passengers. We are descending into Heathrow airport and should be arriving at fifteen past one AM. The current time is ten to one and the temperature is twelve degrees Celsius with a forecast of light showers. Please remain seated until the seatbelt light turns off then you may make your way out of the aircraft. Just be careful when opening the overhead lockers for some luggage may have moved around in the flight. Thank you for flying with Qantas.”
Finally, I thought to myself, we can get off this plane and onto solid ground. I was reclined on the first class seat with my knees up. Daniella was resting her back on my thigh and was straddling my stomach. She had a dummy in her mouth and she looked adorable when she sucked on it like Maggie Simpson does. I was playing with her hands and baby talking to her; I must look like a real loser but who gives? Sometime during the flight, we had swapped babies because Benny was asleep still with Cole on his chest, playing with Benny’s chain around his neck. It was a cute sight.
I poked Benny in the chest to wake him up and he just started to stir and held onto Cole. Cole made some sort weird of sound from his mouth and Benny’s eyes shot open, looking at Cole strangely.
“What’s wrong with your kid?” Benny asked glancing at me.
“He doesn’t like weirdos I don’t think,” I replied and smile innocently.
“Whatever,” Benny mumbled and stretched his arms.
“We’re landing soon so wake up sleeping beauty,” I pointed at Courtney who was sat next to some really hot, young businessman in his early twenties. I was meant to sit there but Courtney begged to sit next to him. Courtney was basically sleeping on him and he didn’t look too upset about it. Courtney was hot though, in a non-lesbian way, so I wouldn’t blame him.
Benny groaned, “I can’t be bothered reaching that far,” He complained and gestured to my son on his lap, “Plus I don’t think he’d be too happy to move.”
I looked at the tray table in front of me and bit my lip to stop from laughing. I had half a packet of m&m’s left. I looked at Benny and he gave me a firm shake of his head,
