Chapter 7: Morning After

Izaya was cute when he was asleep. Shizuo could admit that. After all, he wasn't one to lie to himself like Izaya. But, it still kind of weirded him out that he thought of his enemy as cute. It wasn't normal, right? Everything about the 'flea' should disgust him, but lately, he'd been thinking weird stuff about Izaya, like how soft his hair looked and how cute he was when he was annoyed.
Especially now when he was asleep and not saying anything that would make him mad. Oddly enough, he felt at peace. Of course, right after he woke up, he'd be kicked out and threatened to never mention it to anyone unless he valued his arm...
A slight movement in his peripheral snapped him out of his trance and he glanced to his right just in time to see Izaya get up, his eyes glazed over and an adorable pout on his face. It seems he didn't notice Shizuo's presence as he wasn't reacting violently or trying to piss him of yet. "Morning Flea," he said awkwardly, clearing his throat to get Izaya's attention.
Izaya blinked up at him in confusion before realization hit him. "Shizu-chan, what are you doing in my house?" He asked, obviously still half-asleep if he was mistaking Shizuo's apartment to his high and posh one back in Shinjuku.
"You're in my house, Flea," Shizuo said as calmly as he could manage. Strangely enough, he didn't feel an overwhelming urge to strangle Izaya to death as he'd thought. It kind of freaked him out and he wondered briefly if he was coming up with something.
While Shizuo was worrying about his health, Izaya was beginning to fully awaken and his groggy brain finally took in the situation. He froze, shocked.
He had slept in Shizuo's apartment. He had slept in Shizuo's apartment overnight. He had slept in Shizuo's apartment overnight and he was still alive. That couldn't be right, though. Maybe what Celty was spouting about aliens was right and one of them disguised itself as Shizuo because there was no way Shizuo would ever leave him in his home and not try to kill him.
Then again, Izaya guessed Shizuo didn't seem like the kind to hurt a defenseless person. Even if it was him. Shaking his head to clear it from weird thoughts, he stood up and stretched. "Thank you for letting me stay here Shizu-chan. I don't want to die anytime soon so I'll be leaving you to your peace now."
Before Izaya could leave, though, Shizuo impulsively grabbed Izaya's hand, effectively stopping the informant-turned-Neko in his tracks. His actions were returned by a surprised and confused look.
"Um," he began dumbly, not knowing what to say. He mentally cursed Izaya even though the informant had done nothing. Izaya was still looking up at him with an impatient yet slightly curious look. "Shizu-chan, what is it?" Shizuo sighed, letting Izaya's arm go. "Nothing, just... Do you want to eat before you go?"
He didn't know why he offered nor why he felt an odd surge of happiness when Izaya suspiciously accepted his offer. Shrugging off the weird feeling aside, he decided to go make breakfast for them instead of just standing there and having a staring contest with Izaya.
As for the informant, he didn't know what to think. Shizuo hates him, so why is he being offered to have breakfast with him? And Shizuo was going to cook for him! Maybe he was dreaming and he was still in a drug-induced sleep... Well, anything was much more likely than what he was looking at right now!
They ate quickly, Izaya shocked that the food actually tasted good- let alone edible- and Shizuo was wondering why he was thinking of ways to make Izaya stay with him longer. It kind of freaked him out that he wanted to be in the informants presence and excused it with his secret love of cats. Yeah, that's it. It was because Izaya was a cat which made Shizuo start being strange!
With the false excuse in his mind, he stood up, determination in his eyes as Izaya stared up at him in confusion. "We're going to Shinra's!"
"Don't decide things for others on your own!"

I keep forgetting that Izaya attracts not only fan-girls and enemies but cats as well in this story, so you'll be seeing how creepy cats can be in the next chapter! 😉
