The next couple of days were a bit chaotic with the royal pain. Going from sword training, to cleaning his armor and clothes, and then to me teaching him, it got really tiring. Not to mention that we still had to work for Gaius and his remedy making and delivering. On a good note though, Gaius and I are back on good terms, so that means that we are probably not going to be fighting anytime soon. It's also good that I have to teach Arthur sword fighting because I don't Merlin could take it. I think he would go limp before Arthur took one swing at him. Hehe that would be funny to see. Anyways, I'm walking with a little bit of sass in my walk to Gaius' chamber, or my house, and now I'm finally going to eat. That's going to be exciting! My stomach growls in anger as I reach the door. I walk in to see Merlin in old armor. Oh, did I mention I had to do things with the king as well? Well that's the truth! Now that you know that I had to go and get the king's messages for the upcoming meeting. You may ask, 'Madeline why is this important?'This is important because Merlin had to do my sword practice for me. The best part is that I know how to sword fight, and Merlin...not so much. He looks like a pile of mush when I get to the table and sit down. He groans out in pain, and I laugh at his silliness as I sit down.
"Maddy, how do you do it?" Merlin asked in shock.
"Do what?" I say with curiosity and humor.
"Sword fight with Arthur? It's pure torture."
"Yeah. I know." I said with a snicker, "you, uh, going to move anytime?"
"Probably not. My arms feel like noodles."
"No, I think they were like that before."
"Hey!" Merlin then proceeded to stick his tongue at me.
"You wanna know my secret?" I told him in amusement.
"Yeah!"
"I practiced sword fighting when I was little." I said with seriousness going to my face.
"Really?" he said with disbelief.
"Yeah. That's why I'm so good." I said with a slight laugh.
"Wow... That's amazing!" Merlin said with amazement in his voice.
"Really?" I said with smile on my face.
"Ye-"
Merlin was then interrupted by my stomach. He gave me a surprised look, and a light blush came across my face. I gave a nervous laugh and scratch the back of my neck. Merlin started to laugh and my embarrassment grew. Merlin then started to cry, and I then put my head on the table and wished my life was over. Merlin then stopped crying and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. Getting up I could hear him shifting around the chamber. I saw his silhouette come next to me out of the corner of my eye.
"Hey." Merlin said to me, "here."
I slowly lifted my head and saw he had bread in his hands. I have him a small smile and took him from him. Muttering a small 'thanks' I took off a piece and stuck it in my mouth. Enjoying the taste in my mouth I hummed in satisfaction.
"You're lucky I can barely move my arms." Merlin said.
"Yeah yeah." I muffled, "wimp."
"What was that?"
"Nothing~" I sang.
"No, that was something." He said sitting next to me.
"Nope."
"You called me a wimp."
"At least you're not deaf like Arthur." I giggled.
Just then Gaius came in. We both turned our heads into his direction, and he rose his eyebrows at us. I let out a 'What?' to him and he just shrugged. I turned to Merlin with a suspicious look in my eye, and he just shrugged at me.
"Why is there armor on the floor?" Gaius said curiously.
"Merlin had sword training with Arthur." I said obviously.
"Yeah and all I can hear is clanging." Merlin complained.
Gaius then came over and massaged Merlin's shoulders. I rolled my eyes and laughed as Merlin let his head fall on the table. He then reached for the spell book that Gaius gave to us. Since Merlin, aka the wimp, couldn't reach it, he used his magic that he was born with. Gaius, who can see everything for a old man, hit Merlin. Where? In one of his very sore arms.
"Ow!" Merlin screeched.
"Don't use magic in the open like that. What if someone came in and saw you?"
"But no one did, did they?"
A small smile crept its way on my face. Merlin didn't look like, but he was a rule bender. With a couple words from him, Gaius is like putty in his hands. I bet even Merlin doesn't know that he does this. Putting my elbow on the table, I rested my chin in the palm of my hand. Sighing, looked at the both of them.
"I mean really! Why is Arthur even sword fighting this much?" Merlin asked suddenly, sparking my attention.
"I hear that a fighting tournament is going to happen in a few days." I reply to Merlin's question.
"Really?!" Merlin groaned.
"Merlin, I'll be taking care of Arthur's sword fighting for the rest of the week so relax."
"Ugh. Thank goodness." Merlin said
Gaius stopped working with Merlin's tense shoulders and then sat down at the table. Eating some of the bread that Merlin earlier tore, he watch both of us.
"Is fighting with Arthur really that hard?" Gaius asked curiously.
"Yes." Merlin said.
"No." I state, "honestly Merlin, you have no idea how hard it is to deal with Arthur."
You want to know something? I was right.
