I was just in math class listening to the teacher drone on and on about how you need to find X from the equation. I don't really care how much I might need math later in life, I just want to get out of here.

I heard the door open and close behind me. I don't bother looking back, knowing it was probably just the principal checking in.

Ms. Clark looked up, her mouth made a little 'o' but she didn't say a word. She made a a motion, but no sound came out. I was about to look back, but then Ms. Clark crumpled to the floor.

A ripple of cries followed as one by one the students crumpled. I started to look behind me until next to me I saw Melita crumple next to me.

"Melita!" I checked her pulse just like mom taught me years ago. The pulse was there, faint but still there. I spotted a small red dart sticking to the inside of her elbow. Unwittingly I pulled it out, the sudden rush of blood started to clot up. I stifled the blood with the edge of her shirt. Her shirts was soon soaked and started leaking as I inspected the dart. The sight of blood made me queasy, so I ripped then hem of my shirt too try and make a turquanent out of the corner of my shirt. I finished the tie and stood up to look up.

I spotted a hooded figure at the doorway. I saw a small handgun cradled in his right hand. I had just enough time to think, oh darn it, as I saw the handgun raise in my direction.

I felt a sharp bite in my neck, and I started to raise my hand. Too late.

The lights flickered in and out. Black spots danced around. Slowly they started to gather up until they filled my vision.

I felt nothing but the warm, dark feeling of deep sleep pull at my conscience. I started to doze off but not before I saw the last student fall.
