I closed my eyes, waiting for death to take me. I felt the wind whistling around me, I didn't know how long it would be until I met my death. My clothes were flying around, my skin was being attacked by my hair as it whipped around and stung as it slapped against me.
I didn't have to be a genius to figure out that Grayson isn't very happy with me. I kind of wish that the dragon could save me, but I knew he/couldn't because of being trapped under the ceiling. Most of the guards wanted me dead, and I was falling too fast to do anything.
Would death be painful? Would I even feel anything? What would my family think? Would they even know what would happen to me?
All the sudden, I had an impulse to open my eyes, just in time to see the ground running toward me.
I wait for impact, but it never comes. Instead I feel a warmth encasing me. It feels like when you step into a hot bath and you feel like you never want to get up again.
I opened my eyes to see... Me. I saw my body lying on the pavement. I looked like death, I wasn't moving, my limbs were twisted in unnatural positions, my hair was askew on the pavement, but my face was peaceful. I looked down at myself, the the one who seemed to be very much alive and not on the pavement below, I was fine, well, as fine as I was jumping down.
"Harper" I looked around for the source of the voice, "Harper"
I looked up, what I saw there amazed me. I saw the sky, but it seemed to be ripped in two, in the rip, there was a bright light, so bright I had look look away for a minute. When I looked back then I could see someone. As soon as it saw me looking back then it floated down.
As soon as we could hear each other, I asked one for the books. "Am I dead?"
I still couldn't see it because of the light, but I could make out a vaguely human shape. "No, Harper, you are not dead. You are much too important to the survival of your fellow mortals than to die."
"Why am I not dead?"
Crap, I mentally cursed myself. What I reminded him/it that I was supposed to be dead?
"I mean, not that I'm complaining, but I'm down there." I pointed to my body. I was starting to gain some attention by the pedestrians. More than a few were gathered by me. An ambulance pulled up and my body was lifted in.
"You were very much dead, but I brought you back to life so you may continue your journey." He seemed to smile at me, "Your body is beginning to wake up, goodbye Harper Davis. Until we meet again."
He began to get brighter and brighter, soon he was so bright I shut my eyes to block out the light. Light began seeping through my eyelid. The light became unbearable until everything went dark.
