I can feel the heat touch the back of my neck as we walk away from the burning house behind us.

'On the day we left, we burned down the family home and all the familiar things inside. Because some memories aren't meant to leave traces.'

The next morning....

I look outside the window as the familiar trees, forests, and buildings disappear behind us.

"Al, you're okay with this right?" Ed asks him. I look to my right at him, taking my hand off the window.

Al looks at him. "Huh?"

"I mean leaving everything behind. You don't have regrets do you?" Ed says.

"There's no turning back now. And remember, I'm the one who insisted on coming with you. Besides, we all know you'll miss home more than I will." Al replies, a smile in his voice.

"Totally." I say with a nod.

"Good riddance, that's what I say! Cause you know who's on his way to becoming a state alchemist? Me!" Ed says, eyes closed in a smirk as he points to himself with his thumb.

"Me too!" I say, gesturing to myself.

"Me three! And when I become a state alchemist, the first thing I'm gonna do is fix your bodies!" Al says.

I smile. "Thanks Al. But you shouldn't worry about that. Just focus on getting yourself normal again." Ed nods in agreement.

Al looks at us then out the window, "I wonder how one goes about becoming a state alchemist... Do you think we'll have to take a test?"

I look back out the window. "Probably," I murmur.

My mind flashes to the memory of Mustang talking to us that night....

"And this girl... Hmph... I guess she was lucky. Runs in the family. Her father got lucky as well... But that's a story for another day."

I scowl at that memory.

Ed shrugs. "Whatever it takes, I'm sure Mustang will guide us through it." He breaks into laughter. "What am I stressing for? With talent like mine," he slaps himself on the head, "this'll be a cake walk!"

He looks at me and Al. "What? Are you thinking about Winry?" Al sighs.

Ed looks at me. "Are you?"

I look at him. "Of course I am. Her and Granny." I look back out the window. I hope they won't be too mad at me for this... I wonder what Winry will think about me becoming a state alchemist?

I tense. Not anything good. After what happened with mom and dad, who knows what'll happen. I shake my head to get those thoughts out of it and watch the surroundings go by.

Winry and Granny Pinako stand before the burned remains of the Elric home.

"There's nothing we can do." Granny says to Winry. "Those stubborn boys made their choice and she went along with it. But they'll realise soon that they can still come home."

Winry's fist trembles clutching Harmonys' note. Tears fall down her cheeks. "I hope so... I really do," She whimpers.

Meanwhile with Ed, Al, and Harmony....

We're all sitting in a train station, waiting for the next train. I stretch and yawn. "Man, I hate riding trains at night. Gives my back knots."
