Never did I realize how pushy people truly are until I had to get off a plane into an LA airport.
I was barely able to get my shit out of the plane since I was being continually shoved in a wave-like motion out of the plane.
In the midst of it all, the guy from earlier called out to me.
"Welcome to LA!"
I laughed and replied "Thanks, I'm guessing you come here a lot."
He shrugged and smiled.
Once I was out of the thing, I quickly found my luggage and was able to find a taxi to bring me to my hotel.
My hotel is only temporary though, I'm supposed to be renting out a room with someone I met on Craigslist.
As you can tell, I have top-of-the-line internet safety skills.
I settled down my stuff and called my mom, since I know she wants me to.
It just went to voicemail, so I left her a quick message.
"Hey mom, it's Blaire, just wanted to let you know I'm alive but I lost a limb...Kidding I'm fine. Talk to you soon, love you."
I shut my shitty Tracfone and began to unpack, running over my to-do list, which included buying underwear, the one thing I forgot to bring.
I also had to meet my potential roommate at 2 pm, which is in
11 hours
Its 3 in the morning.
I groaned loudly and threw myself onto the bed, setting an alarm on my phone right before practically passing out on top of my luggage.
--8 AM, still too early--
I woke up, no longer on clothes, but under a sheet.
Housekeeping must have come, because all my clothes were folded neatly on the desk-thing.
I smiled and stretched, checking my phone for any texts. I had one from my mom, and one from my potential roommate.
Text from: Mommy
Hey little miss, sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, but I'm glad to hear you landed safely! Talk to you soon :)Text from: Clarissa
Hello Blaire, just wanted to confirm that we're meeting this afternoon at 2. Hope you remember the address! Lol. See you later on!I replied to Clarissa, letting her know that yes I did remember the address, and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
I was quite surprised when I entered the bathroom. Two towels were neatly stacked on a small table beside a complimentary bag of toiletries. For the small price I paid, the hotel actually gave a shit.
I was done getting ready in about 20 minutes or less. I usually don't wear more makeup than eyeliner and chapstick, which is probably the reason I look like a tumor 85% of the time.
Grabbing my bag and hotel key, I exited my room and walked to a department store.
It took me a while though, because I got lost like twice.
Okay, five times, but who's counting?
I didn't get lost finding underwear though. Unfortunately, they had to be floral printed granny panties, but it's not like I'll be get laid any time soon.
I bought the underwear and quickly exited the store, not wanting to be seen with the pack.
Outside, I saw a man cursing and struggling to get his guitar case into his trunk.
Poor dude looked like he was gonna get crushed.
I quickly ran over to help him. Without speaking, we both pushed his case into the trunk.
Unfortunately, at the same moment, my bag caught on his car and ripped, making the pack fall out.
I stood there and stared at it. "Wow, that's nice timing."
He laughed. "Hey, everyone owns something a lil ugly. Frank Iero, gross fuck of a musician." He said, holding out his hand for me to shake.
I picked up my merchandise from the floor . "Blaire Evans, ignorant young adult. Nice to meet you, Frank."
I watched him close his trunk."You from around here?"
"Nah, Minnesota is where it's at. I can handle the cold better than anyone from LA."
"Wanna bet?" He giggled. "I wear like 15 layers a day. At this point, I could get ass fucked by Jack Frost and it'd feel like Satan."
I bursted out in laugher at this point.
"Hah, I guess you win. Well, seems like you have somewhere to go, so I'll see you somewhere...?" I said, slowly backing up.
"Oh yeah, er, wanna meet for coffee tomorrow? I'm free all day, so whenever is good." He said, pulling out his phone. I was slightly jealous since he had a touchscreen one.
"Want my number?" He asked, handing me his phone.
"Yeah sure."
We exchanged our numbers, and parted ways. In the car I was mentally hitting myself in the head for two reasons:
I had just given my number to a guy I barely knew,
and left my underwear in his car.
