Not so Happily Ever After

Once upon a time
When you and I were as sweet lime
Living in our fairytale land
Building fortresses with dirt and sand

You were the bravest iron knight
Our fairytale land has caught sight
And with my precipitous ways
I was the gauche queen that swayed

You made me a santan flower crown
So that my lips wouldn't frown
We played Marco Polo across the skyline
And danced hopscotch beside the coastline

We would sway with the butterflies
And layed and watched the flyby's
At night we would collect the stars
And keep them at our treasured jars

I thought we would last forever
But there is no such thing as forever
As the distance between us stretched and grew
You and I, we also grew

But we grew apart so we drifted away
And left our fairytale land at bay
Until it veered away
Pushed by our bitter ways

You wore your glacial mask
So I tried to cram you into my past
But the memory of our fairytale land stayed
And you were a scar that would never fade

Now I am here in this crowded town
Wearing a wilted Santan flower crown
