Pizza.
It may be just another Italian delicacy for some, but for me it was love, life and happiness all combined.
I believed it was food handmade by the gods. And my name being that of the Greek goddess Athena, I felt like we were just meant to be.
So of course you'd find me in the one place that sells the most amazing pizza in California - Luigi's Pizza Kitchen.
I came here almost every week, not only for the amazing pizzas but also to feel closer with my mum and dad who used to have a family pizza night with my brother and I every Tuesday.
Ever since they left on their business project years ago I had been a loyal customer to Luigi's pizza kitchen and also became very close with the owner, Mr Lacivita. He was a very small old man with a high intellect and a loving heart who spoke to me as if I was his own grand- daughter.
So I guess this store has more meaning to me than just a place to get pizza...
I stood at the counter waiting for someone to come and serve me. I rang the bell a few times before a tall guy about my age with light brunette hair and captivating chocolate brown eyes finally came to take my order. He smiled briefly, but for some reason I wished it lasted longer.
I had never seen him around before, he must be a new worker. I quickly took a peek at his name tag before bringing my eyes up to meet his again. It had Jaden printed in red serif font.
Jaden tucked a pen behind his ear before acknowledging me fully "Hi, How can I help you?" His voice was smooth and friendly, but his stare made me feel self conscious.
I stared back at him before I regained my composure.
"Hi, I ordered the Luigi's pizza special" I replied politely.
"Under what name?" He peered down at the order book.
I leaned forward, "Athena"
His facial expression took a complete 360 turn as his neutral look was now replaced with a look of disbelief and amusement. He stifled a laugh.
I raised my eyebrow at him. Okay, he was laughing at my name wasn't he? Of course a guy with a boring name like Jaden would laugh at mine.
"Wow your name just made you go from an 11
to a 5 and a half" he laughed incredulously.Oh so he wants to play that game instead of getting me my Goddamn pizza?
I rolled my eyes "Well at least you thought of me as an 11. When I first saw you, you didn't even make it past a 2" I smirked.
Truth be told, when I first saw him he definitely hit it off the number scale for me.
"Is that why you couldn't keep your eyes off me?" He smirked back.
Wow really? Does this guy actually have an ounce of modesty in him? Like yeah he is amazing to look at but still...
"Actually yeah, I was wondering how a human could be so ugly" I wiggled my eyebrows at him to show him that I had just won this little debate.
He sported a face of absolute disbelief and shock after I called him ugly. He suddenly spun on his heel and stiffly walked back to the kitchen away from my view.
