12- "It's Zac not Zachary"

The whole River-Jaden thing was messing with my mind throughout the day on Tuesday.

Josh really had me thinking that My brother and Jaden could possibly have had a past...

But I was way to scared to ask River just in case he flipped it at me. I mean I already did ask him what the deal between them was, and he firmly said no.

And my brother usually doesn't lie to me. But something he would do is lie for my protection. So instead of asking River, I decided I was going to ask Jaden today. Atleast Jaden won't get angry at me, since I haven spoken to him about this issue before.

Where did I see him yesterday...?

Oh yeah It was in the middle of the locker hallway. That makes sense, his last name is Kingsley. Our lockers go in roll order that's why Heather and I are towards the end and near each other.

It's lunch break now so I decide this is the perfect time to go and speak to Jaden. Maybe he can tell me what he wanted to say yesterday as well.

I walk to where his locker would be. But I don't see him there. Maybe he is already in the cafeteria. Which would not be ideal, I'd rather speak to him privately. There's a better chance of him telling me what the past between River and him is if he's alone.

My eyes scan the cafeteria. I see my friends but no Jaden in sight. For the first time I actually see Zachary sitting at our table which is weird as fuck. He was meant to be MIA! Dammit I have the worst luck in the history of all the Greek goddesses.

Walking up to the table I turn to Zac. "Zachary do you know where Jaden is?"

"How many times do I have to tell you?! It's Zac not Zachary" he cringes when saying his full name. Everyone at the table laughs.

HA what a wuss. He is totally insecure about his full name. This is great! I have something to hold against him.

"You've never told me that" I roll my eyes. His stupid excuses. Does he not know that I am the Goddess of not only war but wisdom.

"Athena I've told you like heaps of times. I told you on the phone when you called up Luigi's the other day!"

"No you didn't" I'm so confused right now. He so did not say that his name was Zac! He said that he... Wait what did he say to me on the phone that day?

"Maybe if you actually had calmed the fuck down and given your little pizza rant a break, you would've fucking heard me" He gives me a demeaning look.

"That sounds like Athena alright" Samuel butts in. I give him a glare.

"You guys have no idea how horrid and disastrous that Garden of Eden pizza was. It wasn't even a pizza! It looked more like a compost bin!" I exclaim, expressing my disbelief.

Everyone just bursts out laughing. What?! This isn't funny. This is a conspiracy! An absolute formidable blasphemy that has put shame on the prosperous future of the pizza society!

Woah I need to relax.

"Athena you really need to give your pizza obsession a break, it's really damaging your Goddess of War and Wisdom portrait" Zachary says like the smart ass he is. Why do I even bother with him? I just need to find Jaden. To hell with Zachary Toddman.

"LOOK Zachary I don't care how insecure you are about your name or how fucking bad your customer service skills at Luigi's is or how shallow and bitter you are towards the amazing concept of pizza perfection...! I came here to do one thing and one thing ONLY, and that is to find out where Jaden is" I finish my speech feeling breathless. Wow I admit that was quite a ground breaking piece. I should really start trying in English.

"Im right here" I hear his voice behind me. Great. You know what? I am a self proclaimed embarrassment to society.

I turn around to see none other than Jaden with an amused look on his face. Well at least I found him. I hear Zachary snickering in the back like the unnecessary extra he is.  I only notice Davina next to Jaden after a while. They must've just come back from another hallway hook-up.

"I was actually looking for you as well" Jaden states openly in front of everyone.

"Well that's great because I actually need to talk to you..... In private" I look at Davina when I add in the last bit. To my surprise she actually gives me a dirty look. Wow! Some friendship! It's not like I'm gonna go and give him head in the hallways! No honey I'm not like you.

She usually doesn't care if I talk to or if I'm friends with her guys. But she seems very protective of Jaden for some reason.

"What's going on here?" she asks looking between me and Jaden.

"I'll be back soon angel" Jaden pecks her on the cheek before gesturing me to lead the way.

"I'll be waiting my sexy lion." Davina says flirtatiously making deep growling noises.

UGH! CRINGE! I swear even Jaden seemed to cringe at her growling sounds. The whole table cringes and try to suppress their laughs. Josh goes so red holding in his laughter, that he looks like a red balloon about to blow.

Jaden and I leave the table and head outside the cafeteria and into the locker corridor which is actually deserted for once. Hmm.. Perfect timing once again Athena you warrior.

"Sexy lion!?" I burst out laughing as soon as Jaden and I are safe in the hallway.

Even Jaden laughs as he explains "that's her bed name for me"

EW no I do not want to think about what Davina calls Jaden when they're having sex. NOOO thankyou!
But it really surprises me they have known each other for less than two days and they are already doing it!? They are both such fast people.

"Ugh okay I didn't need to know that!" I say still laughing as I try to get The mental image of Davina growling out of my head.

Jaden chuckles. I Feel a sense of nostalgia hearing that familiar happy sound of his. It reminded me of that night in my house which was so recently, but seemed like half a century ago. Back when I viewed him as a completely different person.

"So what did you want to talk to me about" he looks up at me curiously, the smile still prominent on his face.

"What were you going to say to me yesterday?" Yep I went straight in for the dive. I am not going to mess around here.

His facial expression changes into a complete opposite one to his prior look.

"Oh yesterday... I .. Uh" he starts, looking down as if he is trying to put off saying this.

I stare intently at him.

"Athena don't hate me" he begins.
I feel my face drop completely at the way he chose to start this. I think he notices too as he starts to sugar coat it.

"Look you're really funny, kind, cool and extremely easy to talk to. And I actually enjoy spending time with you, but... Um.. I... uh"

"But what? Jaden." I ask him. I want him to get to the point, but at the same time I don't.

"But...we can't be friends Athena" he finally says

"- And by can't I mean never"
