Crap! I Woke up half an hour late. Great! There's another "late" to add to my already disastrous record at school.
I can already feel how shitty this day is going to be, not because I woke up late. But because I fall of the bed trying to turn my alarm off. What a crappy way to start off an already crappy Monday.
Why didn't River wake me up? I walk out of my room like a zombie over to River's room where I find him spread out on his bed, snoring lightly. Fantastic! He slept in too.
"River wake up" I say in a crappy effort to wake him. My voice sounds like a diseased cat.
"River we are late" I raise my voice while pulling the blanket off the end of his legs. He always has to cover his legs when he sleeps even if it's a boiling summer night. Apparently he feels naked without it.
He suddenly sits up after I uncover his beloved feet. His brown hair sticking up in all sorts of directions and falling messily over his eyes.
"Well don't just stand there! Get ready, I'm gonna be late for work" he says sleepily rubbing his eyes.
I literally run out of the room knowing that once he gets up the chaos will start soon, with both of us running all over the house trying to get it together .
I frantically brush my teeth have a wash etc etc. Ya know, the normal school morning routine. I check the weather. "Can't wait for another scorching hot summer day" I mutter sarcastically.
Throwing on some high waisted shorts, a cropped red halter neck and a Nike baseball cap, I grab my bag and two pieces of toast. While walking out the kitchen I pass the microwave. 8:08! SHIT, school is starting in 2 minutes. Everyone's probably already at school!
"HURRY UP RIV!" I yell to my brother upstairs. He immediately runs out of his rooms and down the staircase while still buttoning up his white dress shirt.
"Okay let's go!" River says while grabbing the car keys.

By the time I get to school it's already 8:15. Ughhh I'm 5 minutes into 1st period. The school grounds and basketball courts are deserted. Everyone is already in class. Ohhhhh no!! I had an English essay due today, and English is first period. Shit I've only done the intro.
I walk to the senior office where I get a pass for being late and head of to 1st period after getting my books.
My heart is beating so fast and I feel like my stomach is doing flips. Mr Wallenberg is going to slaughter me! He hates me in general, imagine when he finds out I haven't done the homework.
Aaahh here we go! I open the door to the classroom to hear Mr Wallenberg finish his sentence. "-new students Jaden Kinglsey an Zachary Toddman"
WHAT!
I look at where he is pointing. And I see none other than Jaden and Zachary sitting next to each other at a desk towards the front of the classroom, looking straight at me. Both of their expressions turn into shocked and bemused ones when they see me. Jaden's a little less bemused than Zac's
Great. now I'm going to see Jaden EVERYDAY! So much for staying away.. Sorry big bro.
"Miss Romero!" The teacher says with a cunning smile. He knows I didn't do my homework. Fuck he is going to anal me in front of the whole class today. I'm doomed.
"Mr Wallenberg" I say with the most sweetest smile I can conjure up.
"You're late. Homework?" He say lifting one of his sharp black eyebrows.
"Um... I ...uh..." I start mumbling
"I've got her homework sir!" Yells out Josh my best friend from the back of the classroom. He throws me a quick glance saying he's got my back. Thank the gods above! I couldn't love Josh anymore right now he just saved my life. This is why he is my best friend, along with Heather.
"And why on Earth would Athena's homework be with you Mr Davies?" He looks at Josh sternly.
"We were studying at my house last night, she left her essay behind" he lies without a fault. Woah even I believed him.
"Why didn't you give it to me before when I asked for everyone's homework then?" Sir questions suspiciously. He seriously needs to chill.
"Well Athena wasn't here before sir. Why would I give it to you when she's not even present in class?" Wooh! Go Joshua!! He's so good! I honestly would hate to be battling against Josh in a court case.
"Hmm fine hand it in then. Don't waste my time I've got a class to run." We both give each other a look as he walks up to the teacher and places the typed up essay in his hand. Mr Wallenberg scans through the piece before looking up through his glasses.
"You two may be seated now" he says firmly.
Josh and I start walking down the side aisle to get to our desk in the back of the classroom. I give his arm a little squeeze as I smile at him and whisper "Thankyou!".
He winks with a smirk in return.
The time goes by so slowly in English, with Mr Wallenberg waffling on about literary devices and how to structure an analysing arguments piece.
I doze of every 5 minutes and Josh nudges me in the arm every 6 minutes so that I don't fall into a deep sleep.
"MISS ROMERO!" I almost fall out of my chair hearing the teacher's voice booming across the room.
"Yes?" I say adjusting my post-sleep posture into an upright one.
Crap everyone is looking at me. I see Jaden looking at me curiously from the corner of my eye. He is probably amazed at how much I suck at life and getting along with teachers.
"Sleeping in my class are you!?" He continues yelling "You can swap seats with Mr Zachary Toddman over here. You're new seat will be next to Mr Kingsley for the rest of the year! Hopefully being at the front will keep you awake!"
This has got to be a fucking joke.
Seriously Zeus, NOT cool man.

Athena and Jaden just keep being pushed closer and closer together... By chance? Coincidence? The forces of nature ?
