*~*~*~* Hello! *~*~*~*
It's Caitlynn!
Or Mei, depending on how you know me. <3
Thank you for the continuous support I have been getting from you all!
This is my first time writing something and actually sticking to it, so I am happy you all can join me in my first story!
Warning: I write on an average of 3 hours of sleep, fighting school, work, and insomnia, so things might be off the walls at points. Please bear with me.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank everyone and tell you this story is just a "whatever comes to mind" type of story, though it does have a main plotline.
*~*~*Suggestions and characters are always welcomed, as I love including other people in my works.*~*~*Again, thank you and enjoy some more of the story! <3
Serenity watched the leaves put on their beautiful show until they fell to the ground suddenly. She looked around, confused as to what happened.
"Fae?" she asked, looking at the spirit.
"Yes, my child?" Fae responded after a few moments of silence.
"Why did the leaves stop?"
"I.. do not know. Maybe I exhausted a lot of my magic. It takes quite a bit of magic to maintain a human form and replay events of the past, especially in such detail." she said as she took strands of her hair into her hand and then watched them fall back down to her sides. "Maybe I should rest for a while. I can continue in a few minutes if you'd like."
"That would be great. Thank you!" said Serenity, her face full of excitement. Serenity looked back at the leaves who had been the center of her interest for the past hour. She realized none of them had shape anymore. They looked like simple leaves, laying on the ground. 'What the heck..' she thought.
"I see you are staring at the leaves." Fae says, laughing slightly. "Yes, you were seeing things. I can cause magic to go over the leaves and they can show you anything I wish, I just have to have an object to cast the spell on." she said, as if reading Serenity's mind.
"So, we've basically been hallucinating?"
"In a sense, I suppose so." Fae said with a small snicker. "I've never thought of it that way."
"Oh. Well, alright then. Whatever works." Serenity said, smiling at Fae.
"Serenity? May I play with your hair?" Fae asked. Serenity looked at her, the confusion clearly plastered all over her face. Fae laughed when she saw it. "Here, feel my hair." she said as she picked up a bunch and held it in her hands. Serenity reached out to touch it.
"I-it's like clouds!" she said, frantically trying to touch the hair. "My hand keeps phasing through.. This is weird.. Do you feel it like normal hair? I mean, does it feel like clouds to you too?" She nodded.
"Yes, it does and only I can grasp my hair. No other creature can, that's why I wanted to touch yours. I have never felt real hair before." she said as she fixed her hair back to it's natural position. 'How does she even keep her hair straight? Does she brush it? Would she even have to brush it?' Serenity's thoughts filled her mind to the brim.
"Alright, that's fine. You can." Serenity said as she turned her back to Fae. Fae slowly took out her ponytail and ran her fingers through Serenity's hair, straightening it.
"So, while we are waiting on my magic to regenerate, would you like me to tell you some of the rest of the story?"
"Yes! That would be great!" shouted Serenity, a little louder than she had intended. Fae smiled at the young girl's enthusiasm.
"Well, I'm not as good of a story teller as the leaves, but here goes.." Fae started as she braided Serenity's hair. "When Astrid left the basement, she was greeted at the top of the stairs by Oliver. He of course was immediately upset that your grandmother hadn't taken a guard with her. She explained that she didn't need one, and that the man in the basement was friendly. Oliver was shocked to say the least. 'You got him to speak to you?' he shouted in disbelief." Fae laughed. "He was always an eccentric one."
"Yeah, it seems like it. I mean, at first he was really rude to Astrid, but then he was nice and sweet to her? I would be really confused about him.." Serenity said as Fae undid the braid she had just done.
"Oh, she was confused about him. Oliver and Astrid used to be very close friends before the 'forced marriage' thing. They were inseparable until Oliver's family decided to move away. They hadn't talked in 7 years, so you can be assured that when Astrid returned and saw that Oliver acted so much different, she was confused." she said as she put Serenity's hair in a tight bun.
"If my best friend was super nice and then super mean to me, then I wouldn't be too happy. I wouldn't be as nice as my grandma was about it, and I especially wouldn't be kissing him and showing him kindness after he made such rude comments."
"That's the thing though. Astrid loved Oliver and Oliver loved Astrid, even as children. Did you know that while they were children, he and your grandmother made a promise to be together forever? In front of the temple of *Jagahaz no less."
"Seriously? My grandma made a promise like that as a kid? In front of the temple?"
"Yes, she did. She thought they would always be together, but a week later, Oliver and his family left."
"That's so sad.." Serenity said as Fae undid the bun and began to run her fingers through Serenity's hair again. 'It looks best when it is down.' Fae thought as she let Serenity's hair lay flat against her back.
"It is, but fate had plans and plans made by fate are inescapable. There is nothing we can do about it."
"Hey Fae, I have a question for you."
"Yes? What is it?" Serenity turned around and looked at Fae.
"How do you know all this? I mean, you look so young and there's no way you have been around that long." Serenity said as she looked at Fae's young body and flawless face.
"Serenity, you seem to forget two important elements. The first being that I am magic. I can't age due to this." she said as she touched Serenity's nose. "The second being that I am a spirit of wind. This also makes it so I can't age."
"What does you being a spirit and not aging have to do with you knowing all this?" Serenity asked with a raised brow. Fae simply laughed.
"I was there. I was the air in the room. I was all around them. Granted, it was pieces of me spread very thinly, but pieces of me nonetheless."
"You mean to tell me that you met my grandmother?" Serenity loudly asked. "What was she like? What did you tell her?"
"I was not permitted to speak with your grandmother directly. I could guide her using the wind and air around her though. There have been many times I have guided her to where she needs to go or who she needs to see."
"Did you guide her to David?"
Fae was very quiet and smiled faintly. "Yes, I did." her voice almost in a whisper. "Guiding her to him was one of the best decisions I have ever made. You should have seen how much fun she had speaking to him and spending time with him."
"Did they like each other?"
Fae only laughed. "Would you like to watch and find out?" she asked as the leaves flew back up from the ground and shifted back into people. Serenity looked at her and nodded.
"Fae, can we start at the part at the top of the basement steps? I want to see the whole story. Besides, we got a little sidetracked when you tried to tell me." she said as she nudged Fae's arm lightly. Fae nodded in compliance.
"Of course.."
