When I got home that day, I couldn’t help but keep smiling. Someone actually cared enough to want me to stay the night at their house.
I walked into my house to find my Aunt already making dinner as usual. She must have heard me come in because she called my name for me to come into the kitchen. This is unexpected, she never really me.  down for supper. I usually smell it before she get the chance to or she knows the fact that I don’t eat until i'm hungry. I still eat every night though.
I walked into the kitchen a little worried about what might come. She was making one of my favorite things to eat, tacos. I know, tacos are not that big of a deal, but for some odd and unexplainable reason my Aunt is able to make one killer taco.
Wait a minute, tacos. She only makes them when she is in a good mood or she has to tell me something. Last we had tacos she told me that she was going to be gone for almost a month because of her work. She left me more money than I needed to make sure that I was covered. I slowly step towards her. Our kitchen was fairly big. It wasn’t over the top, but not a small one either. The floor was tiled with graphite looking tiles of all different shades of red, black and gray. The walls were lined up with light-wood cabinets that were all filled. Our appliances are all from about 2014, so about two or so years ago. They weren’t old, but they weren’t new. Above our stove was an over-the-counter microwave. My favorite parts of the kitchen is the counter tops and the island. The countertops were a black and white marble and the island was very long with bar stools next to it. We always eat up at the island, so at first I never understood why my Aunt even bothered buying a dining room table. She then explained to me that there will more than likely be guests in the house at some time at least once a month and we need to at least look somewhat sophisticated.
I laughed at that thought, of me being sophisticated. At the time we both laughed to.
Okay Aislyn, you really need to stop having these squirrel moments. Let’s focus on the fact the Aunt made freaking tacos.
My aunt looked at me to see that I was staring at her in disbelief. I kept staring at her while she started laughing at me.
“Are you okay Aislyn?” She had quite the amount of amusement in her voice.
I shook my head several times to see if the image in front of me was fake. When I was done and the head rush passed I could see that this was not a dream. I was still standing in my kitchen with my aunt making tacos.
I jumped into a self defense stance and put my arms up ready to attack anyone who dare walk into my home ,”Aislyn, What in the world are doing?”
“There has to be something that is going to happen, you are making tacos. You never make tacos unless something is happening.”
She laughed yet again, “Nothing is wrong Aislyn.”
“Then why in the davy jones locker are you making tacos. You never make them unless you either have something going on for work or something bad has happened.”
She started putting the taco shells, meat, cheese , sour cream, and other stuff on the island.
“Well, it’s one of them.”
“Which one is it? “
“I will be leaving for a week for work. They are making me leave for Paris tomorrow. I have no control over this, do you think you will be okay being by yourself for the next week? I can see if anyone is willing to come over and help you.” I smiled a genuine smile, she actually is showing she is making an effort to be a better guardian.
“I will be okay, but thank you. Actually a girl I met at school invited me to her house tomorrow, is it okay if I go?”
She waved in the air, “That is no problem. I am just glad that you mentioned it.” [al]
She slowly showed a smile on her face, “I told you I was going to try to be better at this guardian thing. Now, let’s not let this taco meat get cold.”
We were pretty quiet the rest of supper. I gave my aunt a hug goodbye as she started packing. I know she would leave very early in the morning to where I wouldn’t be able to do that.
I went back to my bedroom to get ready for bed. I laid down in my bed just staring at my bedroom ceiling. This had to have been one of the best days I have had in my life so far. I know, I really don't have much of an eventful life. Today I got invited to stay at another person’s house, a friends house, and my aunt made tacos and asked if I wanted someone to come over and help me. That happens every once in a blue moon, which by that I mean it has only happend once. With all of these thoughts in my head I couldn’t help but drift off into a peacefull sleep.
