“Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.” Many secrets involved my very existence. Lies are what kept my personality interesting. I would mostly lie about my experiences as a young boy, just to erase what used to be a boring life. After the events of my past, I burned all memories, including the lies, but no one would ever know the real secret that lay in those ashes. My life wasn’t easy, but somehow I didn’t want it to be.

Everyone instantly panicked as the voice screamed from behind the wall. Sammy, Rachel and Bryan stayed close to me, while Casty, Felix, Tanisha and Arej stayed behind. The peaceful mood changed within seconds into one of fear. After some small discussions, I knew that Rachel wanted to let them in, but obviously that wasn’t an option.

“We can’t just leave them outside, John. Open the door.”

“NO! Rachel, We don’t know them, and they are threatening us. We can’t afford to let just any person in.”

“I’m with John on this one, but we can’t just leave them out there to die.”(Bryan’s voice appeared)

“I won’t let any one of us get hurt… It’s too dangerous.” (I implied)

The group stared at me in the eyes, piercing through my barrier of personal space, expecting leadership, but getting disappointment. I could clearly see through the whole event. We let them in, they gain out trust and then they strike. Somehow I trusted my instincts, even if it meant abandoning people in need. I wouldn’t like to take my chances in a situation like this, “television prepares you for these kinds of things” I thought.

Rachel’s hazel eyes turned wood brown, like they always did when she got mad. With a grip of a single second, she slapped me through the face as everyone else watched in complete and utter awe.

“We aren’t monsters; I’m not letting them die. This isn’t like you, John.”

“Rachel… I know that this is inhumane, but you have to choose between our lives and theirs.”

“What difference does it make? If we just let them die, our lives become lower than theirs.”

The guys outside began to get desperate and shouted “Open the FUCKING door!” The sudden screams echoed through the walls as if speakers were hidden within them. Casty began mumbling in fear, while Sammy and Arej’s body shook nervously, creating the sense of insecurity within each and every one inside the walls. The current sounds created uproar, giving off more fear and stress. I stare at each and every one of my friends, but my mind fell completely on blank.

“Let them in, their blood would be in our hands.” Felix shouted, but then whispered to himself “I hope Casty is impressed by my heroic actions” but obviously she was too busy screaming to listen.

Bryan grabbed my shoulder, waking me up from the sudden trance. His hair was dangling in the way of his eyes, but I could see movement from his lips “Dude, don’t do it. It’ll be our fault if they die, but I’m willing to make that sacrifice for our sake.”

I was so lost and confused over everything, that I didn’t even notice Tanisha sitting at her table. I could see her hair covering her face over the blond bangs, but the dark was too thick to see any detail. Her glasses reflected the shine of the moon, ripping through the mass darkness of the night.

I slowly walked towards her, ignoring the continuous battle over the fate of the two guys. Tanisha’s breathing stopped, her teeth cluttered with each other making a particular sound and her hands shook none stop. As I was about to tap her shoulder, making sure that she was OK, Tanisha slowly opened her mouth and lead out a blood curling scream. I remained motionless as she threw herself at the floor and banged her head against it.
