"Wouldn't it be the perfect crime if I stole your heart and you stole mine?"

One month came and went, and I barely even noticed. Both of my parents had seemed to realize that I was in a better mood as me and Jack became even better friends.

We were sitting inside at a Starbucks, sipping coffee while discussing Trig. Currently we were having a debate about different ways to find an angle of a triangle.

"But why can't I always use the Pythagorean theorem?" Jack said, and I sighed. I opened my mouth to answer when Reece walked over.

"Hey lovebirds. Lover's spat already?"

I rolled my eyes. I'd also become better acquainted with Reece, and she was quite pleasant to be around.

"No, I just don't get trigonometry. And since nerd here does, he's not being fair."

I laughed at that. "Whatever. If you don't want my help, you can fail if you want to."

Reece giggled. "You two are so adorable. It must be nice to be in love."

Both of the boys blushed deeply, and Nate stuttered, "we're not, i-i mean I'm not..." He gave up when he saw Jack laughing at him.

"Anywhoooo, I stopped by to say hi before I left for vacation. We're headed to Hawaii this year."

I zoned out, just watching Jack talk. Had i really fallen in love with Jack? And was If really noticeable?

And why did Reece include Jack in that statement?

There were so many questions flowing through my mind, and I jumped slightly when Jack grabbed his hand.

"Nate, you okay? Or is it just me effecting you again?"

I replied by sticking my tongue out, and Jack stuck out his.

"Well, it was nice to see you two again," Reece said. "I've got to go finish packing, so I'd better go." She left without another word, and while Jack watched her go, I watched him. When he turned back around he found me staring.

"How long are we going to do this?" I asked, a hint of annoyance in my voice.

"Do what? The Trig? Probably for the whole year."

I shook my head. "No, I mean the pretend boyfriend thing. How long are we doing that?"

Jack bit his lip, thinking. "I don't know. Just for a little while more. But if you want out, you're welcome to leave."

"No, I'm fine. I just wanted to know, cause sooner rather than later, my parents are gonna want to meet the person who makes me so happy."

I blushed deeply when I realized what I said, but Jack just smirked.

"Abby told me about your crush, Nate. You don't have to hide if anymore."

My mouth dropped open in surprise. "She told you!" I clenched my fist in anger. "She promised she wouldn't tell anyone!"

I stood up, grabbing my stuff and forcefully stuffing it into my bag.

"Nate, wait-"

"I think I just need some space, Jack. Okay?" I snapped, immediately regretting it. A sad, hurt look passed over Jack's face, but he nodded.

"Okay, I get it. Just...text me so I know you're okay."

I grabbed my back and walked away, my footsteps angry. I wanted to hurt Abby, but something sadistic in me wanted to hurt Jack as well.

So before I left, I turned and said, "Just so you know, you're just another dumb stupid jock. And I don't like you. Personally, I actually hate you." And with that, I left.

A week later and I still hadn't talked to Jack or Abby. My anger had worn off, and now I was quite lonely. I wanted to fix it, but I was afraid things between Jack and I were pretty bad.

Every time I saw him in the hallway, he just glared at me.

I spent the week going to school and crying my eyes out. I was hurt, mostly because Jack thought my crush was silly. It was a joke to him.

I sat in the library with my lunch, skimming over my English textbook. I didn't look up when someone stopped at my seat and cleared their throat.

"Nate, can we please talk," I heard that silky voice say, but I still refused to look up.

"Go away," I said grumpily, but Jack just pulled out a chair next to me.

"Nate, please. I can't stand this anymore."

I looked up to meet red-rimmed eyes that had deep shadows.

"I don't want to talk," I snapped.

"Nate...listen, if this is about your crush on me, I don't care. I don't care because I have a crush on you too, Nate. I...I've fallen for you."

I looked up in shock. "What...?"

He nodded, then tenderly reached for my hand. His touch felt so nice after going so long without it.

"That's why I don't want to be fake boyfriends anymore. I want to actually date you, Nate. I really do like you."

"You do?" I asked, my mind not quite caught up yet. He nodded, then brought my hand to his lips, gingerly kissing my knuckles.

"Let me take you out on a real date tonight. To prove that I really do like you."

I nodded dumbly, still in shock.

Jack leaned forward and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "Great. I'll pick you up at seven."

He left me, sitting there, a kind of happy smile plastered on my face.

I couldn't wait until tonight.

Sorry it's been so long since an update. I don't really know where I'm going, so if you have any ideas, please send them to me. I have major writers block.

I love you all and thanks for the comments! Summers here so I should update more often.
