The infamous terror nightfor the Jews luckily ended yesterday, or at least that's what I believe. Still,I was very close to being captured today by a group of German soldiers. I waswalking down the bridge that leads to Molching, and had nowhere to go but thecold, freezing river under the bridge. I know they wouldn't possibly recognizeme, I had no Jewish tags, such as a band or a star of David, but I couldn'ttake any risks. I jumped down into the freezing water. Luckily, the soldiersdidn't see me, but I was freezing, the best recipe for hypothermia is swimmingin cold water during a freezing winter. But I knew I would be fine, after all,I'm German. German soldiers have gone to fight with barely any coats toincredibly cold climates, colder than that of Germany's, and they have diedfrom shots, not frozen. I managed to make a small fire with a stick and some ofthe journal's empty pages to warm myself up and dry out my clothes. Then, although I was close to Molching, I couldn't keep going, I was so tired, so wornout, that I had to stop and sleep here, under the bridge, next to a tree where atleast no one could see me.
