Mandy's POV
I searched my home room class for people I remotely knew. None of my closer friends were in sight, however, the majority was from my old school so it couldn't be that hard to make connections with someone. When I say old school, I mean middle. The two main middle schools collided at Avondale high. One school with a group of students that basically acted as one big family, everyone knew everyone, and the students were mostly great people. Then there was my school. Honestly, our school was the problem child. We brought the rich, snobby people and the cliques. Which even for middle school, you could tell there was a sort of hierarchy of groups. I was never considered popular. I just befriended whoever I came in contact with; there were seldom people in which I became close to. One who I met in elementary, her name is Hannah. And sadly, she was nowhere to be found.
I sat down in the poorly arranged circle of chairs next to a girl named Alyssa (one of the girls I knew from middle school). Although I didn't particularly like her very much, she was better than being alone. I glanced to the other side of the circle, and there sat Marly? I think that's how you spell her name...not entirely sure...Anyway, I felt a little bad for her. Going by the amount of social interaction she made, I'm guessing she came from the other middle school. She had deep brown eyes that matched the color of the braided hair swung over her shoulder. I debated on introducing myself, but she didn't seem interested.
Marley's POV
There was no escape from the kids from L.W. Elementary. I knew no one in the circle of people around me. The closest person I could probably talk to is the girl named Mandy beside me. She seemed pretty quiet, but friendly. Her short dirty blonde hair whipped around as she made small talk with the girl next to her. I could tell she seemed pretty uncomfortable as well. Praise God the bell for first period rang, I thought I would have to walk out of class and fake going to the bathroom to get out of the situation. My first class was choir, halfway across campus. I figured I would be able to take my time, the teachers were pretty lenient if you're late on the first day. I noticed Mandy close behind me.
"Hey. Marley right?"
"Yeah, and you're Mandy?"
"Yep. I have choir next, please tell me you do too. I need someone to walk with."
"You're in luck, just so happens I do." I desperately tried to lighten the awkward tension between us.
"Fantastic. Let's go, choir buddy." Looked like she was attempting to do the same.
The tardy bell for first period rang loud in my ears.
"Oh noo...look at us. Late on the first day. Not good for first impressions." Sarcasm was extremely apparent in my sentence, hopefully she got the joke.
"Whatever shall we do! Oh dear me, Mrs. Director please forgive me for I have sinned."
Great both of us are sarcastic dorks.
A/N
These first two real chapters were just background about how we met-ish, in the next chapters I'll start actually writing something worth publishing. Plus, writing how each one of us found each other individually would be 1.) boring for me to write and for you to read and 2.) too much work. And look it, I fixed the spacing. Even though I am a fan of nice pretty indentions, it'll become irritating extremely quickly.
