Chapter Seven – |Edwards|
J U L I A

"When you are guilty, it is not your sins you hate but yourself..."- Anthony De Mello

Guilt. Dictionary.com defines it as feeling of responsibility or remorse for some offense, crimes, wrong, etc. Is an unfortunate side effect of a dishonorable act? I killed a man out of survival.

"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." – Albert Einstein

Mediumship. It's the power to perceive and communicate with spirits and those who are in the afterlife. My wolf possesses this ability. Ability passed down to only females in my bloodline. This power haunts me. It taunts me to see everyone who has lost his or her lives. Including one, I took away with my very own hands.

Julian haunts me, promising to make my life hell. This man that I have killed was a person. Used to be just an innocent child No one has the right to decide someone's fate even if they have done something wrong.

We all make mistakes.

But I don't feel guilt because I killed him. I feel guilt because I don't care.

I felt as though my body was light as air. The cooling aura surrounding me whisks away my worries. The loving sudden voice made me whisk back to reality. "Marina?" I felt my body being removed from the cooling atmosphere and to a rough surface.

"I got you, starfish." His voice, smoothly flowing tone, was sweetened with candy, casting a spell on me. I can't picture him yelling at me or treating me unkindly. I can't imagine his voice getting high and rough.

It was my serenity.

A smile spread across my face at the sound of his voice. Darius. My eyes flutter open, revealing his handsome face. Butterflies flew around in my stomach at the sight. Buzzed short dark hair and a five o'clock shadow framed the lightest green eyes. A beautiful sunset was happening behind his head. It was a gorgeous picture to behold. Then reality sets in; I look at my surrounding, a vast cave of stone.

"Why are you here? Where am I?" I question, sitting up on the sand.

"I thought you could answer that for me. I followed you here last night." He informs me.

Did I bring him here? My hands, covered in sand, found my dress, it's soaked and ruined. I'm still in my homecoming dress. Full moon

"It was the full moon, wasn't it?"

Darius nods his head. My confusion grew. He didn't seem different. His suit was still presentable with a few trails of sand as if he wasn't affected by the moon. Witches turn wicked. Gemini witches split in two. Mermaids turn into slaves of the moon; drawn to do its bidding. Werewolves shift and lost control of their actions. Vampires?

          "How come you weren't affected?"

"It wasn't a blood moon," he winks.

My cheeks burn and I hid my face in my matted hair. Wait! My hair! Eww, I cringe at the sight, my midnight mane decorated in salt grains. "I look hideous," I comment, still not taking my eyes off the birds nest mess.
