It was strange. A human.
I wanted to take a closer look. I could hear voices filled with laughter.
"Kaitlynn! Come help me with the fire wood." A boy with dark hair said.
"Coming!" A girl with brown hair and glasses replied to the boy.
"Bella stop eating marshmallows and help with the tent." A guy with light eyes yelled.
"Just one more!" The girl, I mean, Bella, replied.
I suppose they are mates.
"Collin, do you smell something?" Kaitlynn asked.
Bella hopped in on the conversation. "Yeah, I know I do, what about you Luke?"
This is getting a little to close. I can hear my wolf screaming at me to leave.
At the same time, Collin and Luke said, "I smell a shifter!"
That was all I needed to hear. I bolted out of there. Already I could hear them chasing behind me. They had shifted.
Faster!
I couldn't go to the safety of the pack. It would lead the people behind me strait to them and I couldn't put them in danger. So I went into the best place possible.
The water.
I jumped into the cool river and swam to the other side. They would lose my scent through the water.
They crossed and surprisingly continued to follow me.
After a while I was sure I'd lost them.
Until I felt a sharp pain through my left leg.
