"Wake up wake up wake up!"
I slowly opened my eyes to see Lidia screaming in my face.
"Wha-What time is it?"
"Its almost noon! Your mom let you sleep in for your first birthday present, now get up and get dressed!"
"Fine."
Lidia walked out of my room and closed the door to let me change. I sat up and climbed out of bed, then walked to my closet. I grabbed a pair of light blue skinny jeans and a hot pink T-shirt. I walked downstairs to meet my mom and Lidia after I put on my white converse.
"Well its about time!" My mom said as I sat at the table.
"Why didn't you wake me up earlier?"
"I tried for at least an hour, then Lidia came over about ten minutes ago and I figured she might have better luck getting you up."
Lidia grinned. "I'm the one that woke the beast!"
"Hey!" I said in protest. "Lidia, you know very well that this is the one weekend where you haven't sleep in till 3:00pm!"
Lidia suddenly got serious. "That takes skill and you know it! Skill that you apparently don't have."
My mom burst into a fit of laughter along with the two of us. My mom glanced at her watch. "Oh, its already 1:36pm! I have some birthday errands to run for Talia." Mom handed me one hundred dollars. "You two find yourselves something pretty, happy birthday Talia!"
I blushed, "Thanks Mom."
After mom pulled out of the driveway, Lidia and I started walking towards the mall. We didn't have a ride, but it was only about an hour away.

"Oh my goodness! Lidia look at this outfit!" I was holding a silk blue dress with a split from my lower thigh down. The straps wrapped around your shoulders with no sleeves. It came with a light baby blue cover.
"Wow, that is so beautiful! You should try it on Talia."
"Okay."
I walked into the fitting room and threw the dress over my head along with the cover. When I stepped out, Lidia turned around and gasped.
"You look so beautiful Talia!"
"Thanks," I noticed something behind her back, "what's that in your hand?"
"Hmmm? Oh, i-its nothing."
"Yes it is, let me see."
"O-Okay..." She showed me a beautiful bright pink dress that goes down to her knees with a black cover. Lidia doesn't wear dresses, she's the average country like person. Fishing, camping, hunting, basically she's my opposite. I didn't think she would ever be caught admiring anything besides a crossbow.
"I just really like it." She said awkwardly. "I know, its stupid and-"
"No its not Lidia! I think its great that you like it, try it on!"
"Really? Okay, if you insist!"
About five minutes later she came out wearing the dress. I gasped at the sight of Lidia wearing an actual dress! I remembered a few years ago at a Valentine dance, every girl was wearing a dress, and Lidia came in with jeans and a sweat shirt.
"Wow you look amazing!"
Lidia laughed, "Thanks." After we took off our dresses, I bought both of them and we headed back to my house.
"My feet hurt!" Lidia complained.
"Then you shouldn't have worn those rubber boots!"
"Ugh, piggy back?"
"No."
"Please! I'll carry the bags and you carry me?"
"Fine." I gave in. She grabbed the bags, tied them to her wrist, then hopped on my back.
After I had carried Lidia to my house, I saw my mom sitting on the couch watching TV. Lidia finally got off and she sat the bags down on the kitchen table.
"Talia, can you go up to your room and wait until six pm with Lidia. I'm going go get the party set up and I don't want you to see it yet, okay?"
"Yes mom."
Lidia and I went up to my room and watched a show, Once Upon A Time, on my TV until it was 5:58pm. We already had our new dresses on when we heard someone scream our names downstairs.
"Talia, Lidia, come down here!"
'Here we go', I thought.
