My mom had always loved Jasper. She knew we weren't friends anymore but she didn't know why. It was too hard to tell her.
She opened her arms for him and he smiled genuinely, something I hadn't seen in months. "Jasper! Sweetie, what are you doing out?" She asked concerned. "It doesn't matter. I'm okay, Rain." Jasper answered. I pushed him aside, shaking slightly. "Oh honey, I'm sorry. Are you okay?" My mom turned to me. "Fine, mom." She nodded,"Go get clothes and get warm." I nodded and ran up the stairs.

Jasper. The thing about Jasper is that he's never been mean to my mom. He treats her like she's royalty. I understood he was thankful for the things she did for him, like when he was 10 and she gave him a home when his mother got locked up.
He had a sweet spot for her. I realized he still cared as I stood leaning against the door, staring into the kitchen. They were making cinnamon buns. They both knew I loved them.
Sometimes, Jasper still confused me.
Now, he moved around collecting everything they needed. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom." Jasper said seeing me.
Once I heard the door close, I hopped onto the counter. "Sweetie, you're going to have to meditate somewhere else." My mom said. "Not meditating mom." "Oh." Just hating him being here. I wanted to say. But instead I said, "When it stops raining, he's leaving, right?" She gave me a look, "Maybe he could sleep over like old times, wouldn't that be great?" "No, it wouldn't! He should go as soon as it stops pouring." I hated snapping at her and I felt bad quickly. "I'm sorry mom I just-" "Don't worry, I'll be gone before you know it." Jasper interrupted. I turned glaring at him. I jumped off of the counter and walked towards the stairs. But he grabbed my arm half way up them. Just leave me alone, I wanted to yell but he beat me to the punch,"It's not you're mom's fault." "Really?I didn't know that." I shot back sarcastically. "Stop. Okay? Because she doesn't know what happened she doesn't deserve this." "God! Gross, you're in love with my mother!" I was suddenly angry. It didn't help that he was trying to tell me what to do after he treated me like shit, he really wasn't allowed to.
"Really? You know I don't love her like that. Just please,be nice?" He gave me begging eyes. I crossed my arms,"You're in my house. " "I know." I tried not to smile,"Jasper, can you please behave at my house?" He didn't hold back his smile," Of course."
I had to look away. I loved his smile so much and it was so contagious.
"Okay, great, thanks." I said quickly then I ran up the stairs.
