"You saved the day, Mr. Ruth," said my friend mockingly as I sat down at the lunch table. He wasn't really my friend, he was an asshole who sat at my table and who's named I've never bothered to remember.
"What's that teacher's deal. Always asking us to learn math. Borrring," someone else commented. I shrugged. I didn't really like the guys at my school, mostly because they are immature. All I wanted was to eat my pizza, skip the green beans on the side, and to chug my chocolate milk...maybe even stab holes at my Styrofoam trey with my fork. I also wanted to go home and relax but that isn't bound to happen for the next long four hours. "Hey," whispered one of the guys,"see that girl over there?" I looked up and saw who he was smirking at, Darling. She sat at a lonely table and had her head down. She had her hair swept off to the side and you could see she was listening to a music player of some sort. The guy continued,"Emo freak..." Since Darling was facing us it wasn't hard to see that she opened her eyes, glaring at our table. I finished my pizza, that sucked, and threw the trey out, no hole stabbing this time. As I did that the bell rang and the lunch room was in uproar with leaving students. The boy from my table got up and moved towards Darling as she slowly came to a stand.Following him, I watched as he kicked the chair over that she was once seated in. "Oops," he chuckled and left. Jerk. I picked up the chair and expected to see her face again so I could appologize for his rudeness, but she was gone.
