The sword

Aphmau POV

I was sitting in the field leaning against a tree, when I heard a growl behind me, it was dark so looking was pointless unless the animal was white, but I was curious so I turned, I felt warm breath on my face the minute I turned, a winter wolf pack was right there "AAAAAAAAAAAAH" I screamed and tried to climb the tree, but the leader of the pack bit my ankle and pulled me down "help me!!" I yelled, I kicked the leader off of me and got up, I was going to run but I couldn't feel my ankle

I fell instantly, I squeezed my eyes shut waiting for the wolves to pounce, but instead I heard a roar and many yelps, I opened my eyes just in time to see a giant dark purple reptile breathe a lilac flame at the wolves "st-Star" I whispered as the wolves ran away

Star turned to me and smiled her dragon smile "Aphmau are you alright" she asked putting her head down to my ankle "your hurt, here let me take you to the healer" she said grabbing the back of my shirt in her mouth, i wanted to protest but she's a dragon and you don't argue with a dragon

Once she landed she gently put me down in front of the stone building "healer come and tend to the wound of this child" Star said, and almost at once the pink haired (if you don't know who it is by now I shun you) meif'wa kawaii~chan appeared

"Star~sama who have you brought, oh Aphmau~Senpai come quick and let kawaii~chan heal you" she said grabbing me and dragging me in her house/nursing area "Aphmau~Senpai if you could sit on that stool there for kawaii~chan that would help" I didn't argue I just did as I was told

"So Aphmau I have a question" a voice asked, I jumped and turned around to see Star peeking in through the window "you are 18 correct?" She asked, I nodded "good, and you have had a go at pulling the sword right" she asked, I shook my head no "mmmmm you know the rules I will tell the priest and we will hold your ceremony tomorrow, you will try and pull the lighting sword from the stone" she stated

"Ok, but what if I can't get up the steps" I asked

"Then I will carry you up, nothing will stop you from trying to pull the sword of lighting from that stone, it's the law" she said, she turned towards the church and spread her winds, but before she jumped and flew away she looked back at me "oh and Aphmau, try not to hurt yourself even more" she said jokingly

"Haha ok I'll try" I said with a slight giggle, then suddenly it felt as if I was being watched, and almost as quick as the feeling came it went away "that was weird" I muttered to myself (alright you should know why she felt that if you read the first chapter)

"Ok kawaii~chan is ready to fix Aphmau~Senpai's ankle" kawaii~chan said walking up to me "is Aphmau~Senpai ready because this might hurt" she said setting the herbs and bandages down

"I'm ready kawaii~chan" I said

Time skip to the ceremony

     The crowd was separated down the sides of the path, I limped strait down the middle, looking at the platform I saw the high priest Chad, the head guard Dale, and our guardian Star, when I got to the steps I hesitated for a second before going up, it hurt my ankle like crap but it would be worth it if I pulled the sword from the stone. When I reached the top of the platform Chad and Dale smiled at me while Star just nodded

     "People of Phoenix drop, we gather here to celebrate the 18th birthday of Aphmau Lorde, and as according to our laws she must try and pull the sword of lighting from the stone of destiny, if she does she will go to a grand master and learn to use her new powers as well as wield the sword so she may vanquish the darkness that haunts our land, now Aphmau pull the sword from the stone" Chad said motioning his hand to the stone with a silver sword stuck into it, I walked up and put my hand on the hilt of the weapon, and with all my might I pulled, surprisingly the sword came out, I held the weapon up high and the Suns beams danced off the blade "She has pulled the sword, people of Phoenix drop welcome our new great guardian Aphmau Lorde" Chad said patting my back

     The crowd cheered for me as I walked down the steps and past everyone to the church, I walked in the church to get away from the crowd. Chad closed the doors and looked at me seriously "Aphmau, you hold a great power in your hands, the ability to control lightning, and you have to train under the old keepers, all I ask is that you be safe" Chad said putting his hands on my shoulders "promise you'll be carful" he said

     "I promise" I said

     "And the oracle said the four kids there would be two boys and two girls, I can't tell you who you can and can not love but this means you will be traveling with someone from the fire clan, if you know what's good for your clan you won't fall for the one from Oh'Kasis if it is a boy" Dale stated

     "I'll try but if he's hot I make no promises" I said jokingly, he didn't think it was funny at all

     "We're being serious Aphmau, if you do not wish to be a social outcast in Phoenix drop you will not fall for a boy from Oh'Kasis" Dale said Emphasizing the 'will not'

     "Ok I won't fall for a boy from Oh'Kasis" I said "now what"

     "You and Star will go to the old keepers" Chad said

     "Wait why is Star coming with me" I asked

     "Because now that you wield the Lightning sword you two are bonded and can't be separated for very long, or bad things might happen" Dale said

     "Is this true Star" I asked since Star was listening from a window near us

     She nodded and said "yes Aphmau, yes it is"

     "So when do we leave" I asked Dale

     "You leave as soon as possible, and before you head to the old keepers you have to meet with the other three chosen ones, you meet at no mans land right in the center when all our clan territories meet" Chad said before Dale could answer

     "Well I can go now" I said, I opened the doors to the church only to come face to face with Star

     "Do you not need time to pack, it is a few days trip" she said
     "I don't own anything remember I'm an orphan and I have no home, I can hunt, that's all I need" I said "and I can find water with ease"

     "Ok but if we starve its on you" she said "get on" she turned and crouched down so I could climb on. I got on and we started off on our journey
