Chapter Two
Night of Chaos

✧ ─ ✧ ─ ✧

"Ekam em ytrap ydaer," Zatanna looked at herself in the mirror after she spoke the spell. There was a flash of light and then the towel she had been wearing disappeared.

Her lips were tainted with maroon and her pale skin seemed to be glowing. Her dress was long and burgundy-colored with a piece of the dress split between her legs. The dress exposed her legs, which also held special jewelry of the Homo magi, her deceased species. Her heels were black and her hair was in long dark curls.

"You sure know how to make men drool, Zee," said a voice from the doorway. Zatanna turned to see Natasha standing there in her own long dark dress. Her short, red hair was curled to perfection and her lips shone a vibrant red. Zatanna smirked and touched up some pieces of her hair. "I would say the same about you, Nat. You seem to have caught Green's eye."

Zatanna smirked when Natasha looked at her heels and blushed. "Yeah, well... Steve sure seems to be fond of you," Natasha retaliated.

"Please. He's like an older brother. Nothing more, nothing less," Zatanna responded. She walked away from the mirror and held out her arm. Natasha linked their arms together and led her out of her room. The two women walked down the hall towards the stairwell.

      "Whatever you say, Zee."

"I'm very happy chasing cold leads on our missing persons case. Avenging is your world," said the voice of Sam Wilson as he and Steve walked up the stairs to meet Zatanna. "Your world is crazy."

"Be it ever so humble," Zatanna said, smiling at the two. Steve handed Zatanna a glass of champagne, which she gingerly expected.

"You find a place in Brooklyn yet?" Sam asked Steve. Zatanna glanced at the man in stripes, which was right now the man in a button-up shirt and took a sip of her drink.

Steve sighed and bowed his head, "I don't think I can afford a place in Brooklyn."

"Well, home is home," Zatanna said, knowing about Steve's current predicament. As for Zatanna, the sorceress lived in a penthouse up in Manhattan, but also had a room at the Avengers towers. She had been telling to Steve to just move in with her, but he had insisted on needing his own place. She had decided not to push it anymore and respected his wishes.

"So, Zatanna, How was the fire fight?" Sam asked her. Zatanna rolled her eyes knowing Steve had told him about the fight in Sokovia. Zatanna laughed and said, "Took a little longer than expected."
