“Hi Harry.” I said as I grabbed my apron and tied it on. I walked over to the broom closet and he followed me. “Yes?” I asked, turning to see his face right next to mine.

‘I’m here on time…” He said as I rolled my eyes. He thought waking up early one morning was going to change my mind.

“Do you expect a standing ovation?” My words obviously changed the smug expression he had on his face. I walked away expecting him to get the hint, but he followed me again. “What?!” I asked as I turned to face him.

“Please just let me prove that I’m not the guy you think I am.” His words surprised me. I didn’t know how to reply to him this time.

“You don’t know how I think about you.” He can’t read minds, unless his daddy somehow bought that for him as well.

“You think I’m spoiled rich kid who doesn’t work for anything, that I’m handed everything in life. You know my name and that’s all. You don’t know me or my story. But I’d like the chance to show you who I am.”

“Why do you want my acceptance so badly?” I didn’t know why he was chasing me when his looks and money could get him millions of other girls.

“Because you’re different, different than any other girl I’ve ever met. “ We looked in each other’s eyes for a while. God, his eyes are the perfect shade of green. They even shine in the dim light of the diner. No, Riley! Step out of this trance.

What is this guy doing to me?

……………………………………………………….

“Tomorrow will make a week…” Sky’s words were no surprise to me. I had been counting the days. Harry had been there every morning for the past six days. If he’s there tomorrow, then I have to ask him to mini golf.

“I definitely didn’t expect this.” Sky continued to chatter on how she thought Harry and I would be a good match. I wasn’t listening though. My mind was on Harry. It has been on him a lot lately. I don’t know why I can’t get him out of my thoughts. His perfect smile, the way his messy curls perfectly shape his face, how his face lights up with his laugh….

“You there Riles?” I was brought out of my Harry thoughts. How long had I even been thinking about him?

“Yeah sorry Sky…. I’m really tired though. I might call it a night.”

“Okay, that’s a good idea. Big day tomorrow.” Sky was having way too much fun with this whole Harry thing.

“Yeah Yeah. Night love” I told her as I ended the phone call before she could say anything more about tomorrow. I closed my eyes and prayed my dreams wouldn’t be filled with Harry. Most of them have been lately.

……………………………………………………….

I walked into the diner and looked around. No Harry. I thought I would feel relieved but the feeling of disappointment showed up instead. I looked in the back, the kitchen, even the broom closet: no Harry. Did he give up on me already? I looked at the clock, ten minutes past seven. Suddenly I heard the banging of the back door opening.

“Sorry I’m late. My car broke down so I had to bike all the way here.” I looked at Harry. He was sweating and out of breath. Why did he care so much about getting here on time? His dad owned the place; he technically didn’t even have to show up

at all.

“Morning Riley” He said as he walked past. I just nodded unable to get over the shock of what just happened.

……………………………………………………….

Harry had just finished taking a group of teenage girl’s orders. They were all fawning over them. It was disgusting. Wait, why am I even jealous? He’s not mine. I watched him walk over to give the order to the kitchen. He turned to face me. “What?” He asked as he saw me looking at him.

“I was just wondering… well, me and a few friends were going to go mini golfing tonight… and I was wondering if… If maybe you wanted to come with us? I know it’s Friday night and you probably have much cooler plans so I’ll just….”

“I’d love to.” He cut me off. I didn’t know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn’t a yes. I smiled at him and went back to the kitchen counter. What was I getting myself into?

……………………………………………………….

“Which one is his house?” Tyler said as he laughed and pulled the car up into the cobblestone driveway. He was obviously kidding as the whole street was taken up by one massive house.

“Wow. This is a beautiful place. We could throw a rager here.” Sky said. That would be her first thought when seeing a mansion like this. I could see Harry coming out of the front door. He looked amazing in a jean shirt and black pants. “Wipe that silly grin off your face.” Sky told me with a nudge to my shoulder. I didn’t even realize I was smiling.

“Hey guys.” Harry said as he opened the car door. “Hi Riley.” He told me as he sat next to me. The subtle hint of his cologne was perfect. I heard Sky fake cough, probably wanting to me to introduce them.

“Harry this is my best friend Sky and her boyfriend Tyler.” I told him as he grinned and shook their hands. It’s weird to see people our age shaking hands. It seems like such an older person thing to do.

“Okay let’s roll out.” Tyler said as he drove away from Harry’s house. Soon, Sky and Tyler were blasting the music and singing along.

Harry leaned in close to me, the smell of his wonderful cologne getting a little bit stronger. “I didn’t know this was a double date.”

“Its….Its not…” I was shocked by his sudden statement.

“Can it be?” He asked with a smirk to his face and a wink of his beautiful green eyes.
