He leaned in further and I stood there shocked. I knew Tyler and Sky were watching us but I didn’t care. I was a little concerned with the boy standing in front of me.

I looked into his beautiful green eyes that were inches from mine. He tilted his head and kissed my cheek. “See you tomorrow night.” He winked at me and walked inside his house. What just happened?

I walked back to the car and as soon as I entered the car, Sky began screaming. “It wasn’t even a real kiss” I responded to her screams.

“Well what did you talk about?” Tyler asked while trying to calm down a frantic Sky.

“He’s taking me to dinner tomorrow. No big deal” I muttered under my breath.

Sky screamed again. “No big deal?! That’s awesome! You’re going aren’t you? Of course you’re going. We have to pick out the hottest outfit and what are we doing about your hair and makeup? Did he say it would be fancy or casual…?”

Sky continued ranting as I looked out the window. Was I actually going on a date with Harry Styles? Boy, freshmen year Riley would be so mad at me right now…

“What details did he give you about tonight?” Sky was yelled at me from my closet. She was going through my clothes, trying to find the perfect outfit.

“Barely any, just to wear something a little fancy” I yelled back as I curled my hair.

“I think I found it” Sky spoke as she walked out of my closet holding my tight blue dress. “Why have I never seen this before?”

“I just finished sewing it last week” I responded as I began putting on makeup.

“You are so wearing this and after tonight, it’s mine.” She laid it on the bed and went to the closet to pick out shoes.

“Wow.” Harry said as he opened the door. I took the daisies he was holding and examined his outfit. He looked amazing in a blue blazer and dark jeans.

“Is that a good wow or a bad wow?” I asked as I began walking towards his beautiful black Audi.

“An amazing wow. You look beautiful.” He told me as he opened his car door for me. One minute in and I was already blushing like crazy.

“So how did you know daisies were my favorite flower?” I asked after we ordered our meals. He had taken me to this amazing rooftop restaurant with twinkly lights. I swear it’s straight out of a Katherine Heigl movie.

“Wild guess. You wore a daisy shirt while we were mini golfing so I figured you didn’t hate them.”

“Observant. I like that in a boy” He laughed. “So tell me how great it was going to all boys boarding school?”

“Don’t even start. I’d rather you throw frog guts on me everyday then go back to that school.” He wiggled his eyebrows at me and I laughed.

“That was a really ugly sweater. Baby pink? what were you thinking?”

“My dad said a man should never wear pink, so naturally I replaced my entire closet with pink.”

“Do you defy your father often?”

“Only always. He and I have very different views on life. He wants me to attend Yale this fall but I want to focus on my music. He thinks that’s a waste of time.”

“Yale, wow, how could you ever turn that down?”

“It may come as a surprise but preppy isn’t really my thing.” I laughed. “So where are you attending school this fall?”

“Well I got into a couple of fashion schools but even with financial aid I couldn’t afford to go to them. Heck, I can’t even afford community college. So I’m working at that diner until I have enough money to do something with me life.” I fiddled with my hands.

“I’m so sorry Riley, I had no id…”

“It’s fine. Just a bump in the road.” I interrupted him, “But if I were you, I wouldn’t dismiss Yale so fast. Besides, you’d fit in well with all your sweaters.” I gave him a teasing smile.

“That was the most delicious food I’ve ever tasted. But then again, I’ve only had food at the diner for the past week.” He smiled at me as my phone rang.

I looked down expecting to see Sky or Tyler’s names but instead I saw my little brothers. I gave Harry an apologetic smile as I answered. “Dale, what’s up?”

“I don’t know where I am…” That’s a scary thing to hear from your 8 year old brother.

“What do you mean? Dale, aren’t you with mom?”

“She left to go drinking with some friends and I was hungry. We didn’t have any food so I took a taxi to the burger restaurant but I don’t know how to get home and I’m feeling sick and they’re almost closed and I’m scared.”

Six months ago he was diagonesed with leukima, which meant I needed to find him fast.

“Dale, don’t move. I’m on my way.” I hung up and looked up. Harrys eyes were intently on mine.

“That was my brother. He’s eight and he’s alone in a random restaurant because my mom went out drinking and I need to go get him before they close.”

“I’ll take you.” He said without a second thought.

…………………………………………………………………………

“Thanks so much Riles. Sorry I ruined your date.” Dale told me as I tucked him into bed.

“How’d you know It was a date?”

“Please Riles, you don’t wear dresses for just anybody.” I laughed and kissed him on the head.

“Night Dale” I whispered as I turned of the light. I walked back downstairs and saw Harry sitting on the couch. His eyes shot up when he heard me. I sat down next to him.

“I’m sorry for all of this. You didn’t know you were getting yourself into something with a girl who has a alcoholic mother and a cancer stricken little brother and that’s a lot and if you want to back out, I would not blame you at all..” I looked up at him and he pulled me into a hug.

“None of that changes how I feel towards you. Riley, I had no idea what you had to deal with and I want to be here to help you through it.” I look at him amazed. I put my hands on the back of his head and pulled him towards me. I crashed his lips into mine and man, was it amazing. Every other kiss I had seemed pointless after this one.

I pulled away and looked into his eyes. “You really miss out on a lot when you go to an all boys school”
