"Did you see the look on his face when you told him to fuck off?" Weston laughs, clutching his stomach as he wheezed. I continued to write some of my plans for the week which included going to Portland for a meeting.
"I thought you two loved each other." I asked while writing. Mere just shrugged taking a sip of her coffee. "Apparently, he's been fucking around without me knowing and he suddenly comes to my doorstep with a whole band behind him playing an Al Green song, proposing to me."
Mere and her ex-boyfriend dated for 8 years since they were high school sweethearts. I did expect them to break it off since he kind of seemed off ever since her ex, Caden, met this girl from Hawaii after a trip with the family.
Mere was beyond beautiful though. Every guy at campus wanted a chance with her but too bad she was already taken not until now. "Do you know any girl he fucked that we might know?" Weston asks, leaning a little closer with a quiet voice.
"Aliyah Gomez."
Both Weston and I gasps in shock as I stop what I am doing and listen.
"That innocent chick at the library?" I scowl as Mere nods. "How though?" Weston questions Mere and she scoffs. "Caden couldn't hold his dick in that much. He probably seduced her with those eyes of his."
"Yeah the same way he seduced you too." Weston laughs again and Mere slaps his head hard. "Ow! That hurt you know!" He rubs his head, pouting.
"So Cassie, any plans tonight aside from going to that horrid place again?" Mere rolls her eyes and shivers with disgust.
"You mean dad's office?" I frown and she nods, "That place gives me a negative vibe. God knows what you've been doing to get shit done. I can't believe you're still alive though from all that hard work."
"Jesus, Mere, it's just an office. Things have been going great after dad removed that drunkard vice president of his." I start to gather all my things, fixing them and putting it inside my bag.
"Don't forget later at 10 pm! Cleo will be throwing a party." Weston yells before I could leave the cafe and I wave back at them. As I turn my face to the entrance, my eyes wander to a pair of eyes just right above me.
His hair was wavy and oh lord, he looked liked a model.
Unfortunately, he moved his eyes to the cashier and smiled widely as he winked. I look back to see who he was winking at and it was the girl from the cashier. She blushed as the guy chuckles, advancing to her.
"I've missed you, bellissimo." His low husky voice speaks, kissing her from the counter.
And it clicked. I started to realize that they were together which was to my disappointment and my cue to leave the cafe
Damn it, I thought I have already met someone like the things girls describe at books when they meet their soulmate who they develop feelings for in the future.
I quickly walked, as the wind blew against my face making it harder for me to find where I parked again because my scarf kept getting in my face.
As I walk more, My heels get stuck at the ground and I start to expect things that would happen if I fall right here, right now.
Suddenly, a large pair of hands grip me by my waist, saving me from my face hitting the ground. My scarf is moved, and I see another gorgeous man, looking at me with a worried expression.
"Are you fine?" He asks and I nod slowly, gulping.
"Baby, come on. I'm hungry." He looks to his side and I follow where he's looking at to see him staring at a guy. "Come on! I want to eat right now!" He whines and the guy chuckles. I gain my balance and he helps me slowly.
"Sorry, duties." He jogs over to his boy friend, intertwining their hands together.
The second time, really??
And I wondered, is this the universe telling me, I'm too fucking lonely?
