Chapter 34

Alison's P.O.V.

Later after shift I was at the apartment with Jay. We were sitting on the couch as my legs were on his. He was giving my legs a slight squeeze "Ali come on you can't quit. Kelly will get over it"

I shook my head "He won't. He thinks it's too dangerous. Even though I keep telling him and have to keep reminding him how I've been at the firehouse for so long. And especially if something happened to me on the job which hopefully never will. He will never forgive himself"

"No matter what happens Kelly can't control your life. Do what you what to do. It's your decision your life"

I nodded as I played with his short hair on the back on his head "I know. But still you know he wasn't even excited I got on squad. He wasn't the least bit happy"

Before Jay could say another word there was a knock on the door. I stood up and made my way to the door as I slightly tip toed to look through the peephole. I moved away and put my hand in the knob as I opened the door

"Hey, my friend that I was crashing with threw me out. Can I crash here?" It was Mills holding his bag

I have a slight chuckle and moved aside "Of course come in"

He walked in and as he said hi to Jay I closed the door "I'm sorry to barge in like this" He said putting his bag down

Jay shook his head "Don't even worry about it"

"You guys going to Molly's tonight?" He asked

I nodded "We we're just gonna leave"

We all got changed quickly and headed off. Once we got to Molly's Mills and I were talking. Jay opened the door and we both walked in. But I wasn't facing forward I was too busy looking at Mills as we talked

"Surprise!"

I then looked forward to see everyone looking at me and smiling. My mouth flew open. I was speechless for a second "What's going on?" I asked

Jay put his hand on my shoulder "You looked like you needed some cheering up" He flashed a smile

"You did all this?" I asked. He shook his head and pointed to Kelly. I approached him and he was smiling like crazy "You did this?" I asked

Everyone was already going back to their own world. He nodded "Yup, look I know you have this whole thing in your head that I am not happy with you being on squad. Truth is I just can't bare the thought of losing you. But I understand , you've been in the firehouse for a long time. And I am happy for you, I truly am"

Those words warmed my heart. I pulled him into a quick hug "Welcome to Squad 3 speedy" He smiled

I nodded "Thank you"

Kelly rose his glass up "Cheers to Alison on getting promoted to Squad 3!" He yelled

Everyone raised their drinks and yelled. I grabbed a drink and began to mingle around with my friends. I was having fun, I made my way to the bar and finally sat down on a stool. Hermann saw me, I had an empty glass so he began to pour me another

"Can I buy you a drink?"

I turned my head slightly and scoffed "No thanks"

"Come on Ali" Camille said

I nodded at Hermann as I grabbed my drink "Only my friends call me Ali" I scolded at her before I stood up and walked away

Jay's P.O.V.

I kept a good eye on Ali almost all night. She was happy, then I noticed her go to the bar. I could see her practically rolling her eyes at the girl next to her. It made my wonder, I didn't recognize her. I was about to approach Alison after she left the bar but my phone began to buzz. I put down my drink and went outside because it was too noisy inside.

"Hello" I said as I answered it and pressed it against my ear

"Jay, where are you?" It was Erin

"I'm at Molly's, what's up?" I asked

"I need you to come down to the station. Just you"

"Why? What's going on Erin?" I asked

"Just get here as soon as you can" She hung up the phone

I felt this hot sensation on my back. What was going on? I texted Alison quickly before I ran to my car. I headed to the station in full speed. Once I got there I walked in and went straight upstairs. They had finally rebuilt the entire station. I opened the door that led upstairs and ran up. I saw Erin at her seat and Voight sitting next to her "What's going on?" I asked taking a few steps to approach them

"Jay.." Erin began with a soft voice

But Voight cut in speaking in a husky hard voice "Julian Price escaped from prison"

I felt my face go blank, fire began to ignite all around my body "Did I hear you right?" My voice was becoming stern "That son a bitch who almost killed my fiancé?!"

Erin stood up from her chair "Jay.."

"How the hell did he escape?" I asked

"We don't know. And we have no idea where he's at" Erin tried to explain

I began to calm down "We will keep an eye out. You should too. Keep Alison close" Voight said

I gave a slow nod "I don't want Alison to find out about this. If he's not here there's nothing to worry about. I don't want her worrying about this"

"Okay.." Erin said

I gave a nod and turned around as I began to walk away. Damn it, why can't we have one good day

Alison watched as Camille left the bar where she was sitting with Gabby. Ali walked over and sat next to Gabby with her drink "So I see you and Camille have become good friends"

Gabby turned her head to look at her "She sort of works with us. What's up with you two anyways?"

Alison shook her head and looked back forward "Let's just say the past is better left buried" She raised her glass up to her lip and took a drink
