Kayla never was a fan of crowds. In fact, that would probably be at least three on the list of her biggest fears. However, Vik had dragged her along.

It had been three years. Three years since she moved. Three years since she first met him. Three years since Vik started YouTube. Three years since Kayla sulked over her mother's death.

She still misses her mom. Hell, who wouldn't? However, it was simply the fact that Kayla learned to stop living in the past. She could never forget the person who gave birth to her though.

There were lots of people and a lot of noise. Vik and his friends were celebrating the two year anniversary of their YouTube group, the Tomahawks. Kayla just sat along the sidelines, watching the excitement. Many supporters lined up to get pictures and autographs, and judging by the smile on Vik's face, he was overjoyed.

She was so concentrated on the Vik's happiness, she almost didn't notice him waving his hand at her, motioning come here. Kayla quickly looked around to make sure he couldn't have been gesturing towards someone else, only to find her surroundings empty. Precariously, she got up, an oversized sweater hung on her shoulders and black leggings that hugged her legs, and headed toward Vik's direction.

"This is my girlfriend. Her name is Kayla. I have her to thank for the fact that I am here today, alive. She's the one who's supported me throughout my YouTube career; she's the one who got me," — he paused, before continuing shakily, — "out of my depression a few years ago. And I am forever in her debt. If it weren't for her, or you guys, who have supported me, I wouldn't be here or who I am today."

Kayla stared blankly at the crowd in front of her. After they graduated secondary school, they had started dating. Kayla had gone to uni and the two had moved in together at the Tomahawk house.

No one knew anything about the two of them, other than Jack, Kayla's father, who had finally gotten over his alcohol addiction and approved greatly of Vik, Lillian, and the Tomahawks. And her boyfriend had now exposed the two of them to the world.

Smile, Kayla, she told herself, putting on a shy grin on her face.

"Never do that again, Victor," Kayla mumbled in a somewhat teasing manner, helping the seven men clean up their booth.

"We would have to have told them at some point."

Kayla sighed. "That wasn't the point. I didn't want all of the attention focused on me like that."

"Really, Kayla?" Simon piped in, his usual playful smirk present on his face, "You were blushing like crazy. I thought it was funny. And maybe a little cute."

Over the years, Kayla and Simon had grown into a brotherly and sisterly bond. The conversations between the two always contained banter. He comprehended that she was off-limits, especially since she was Vik's, and to be honest, Vik was always at his happiest in her presence.

Vik and Kayla completed each other. Simon understood that and yearned for a relationship like theirs. One of his favorite things was to watch them leave the house for walks. Kayla would often convince Vik to leave the house, even though he didn't want to as he was very dedicated to his channel and not missing a day of uploading, and the two would go for a walk for a half an hour or so. They would return hand in hand and watching their routine returning entrance started to stir something in Simon— a deep wish he never knew he had.

Kayla never believed in happily ever afters, but spending time with Vik would make her heart swell with joy and passion.

"Come here," Vik said to Kayla.

Simon watched as she did as she was asked and Vik gave her a small peck on the lips.

"Better?"

"I guess so," Kayla replied sarcastically, wrapping her arms around her boyfriend— the term always seemed out of place in her mind— and nestling her head on her chest.

The two weren't big on the physical aspects of relationships as they were on the emotional, which was the exact reason why Vik cherished the moment. The whirlwind of a world seemed to stop moving momentarily as he gently rested his chin on the top of Kayla's head, returning the embrace.

Him and her against the world. And neither of them would have wanted it any other way.

It was all thanks to that month, that week, that day where they both decided that life was like a Lego house— and both unknowingly wrote essays about the same thing.
