What happened last night? Vik thought. His head was pounding and the pain was unbearable. He remembered ditching the party and going to Kayla's and— oh, he kissed her. Shit.
He had slept on Kayla's bed. Vik vaguely remembered her asked him to stay. He had to get home. Lillian would be worried. She'd kill him first, though.
His clothing was still intact and hung on his body. So they hadn't done anything last night...
Vik quickly left, making sure to close the door behind him as quietly as possible. "Fuck," he mumbled softly to himself, rubbing his temples.
Kayla was a big part of his life and she had no idea.
When he got home, he was faced with a furious Lillian. "Where the hell were you?"
Vik's head pounded. "Just leave me alone," he mumbled, walking the stairs to his room in an disoriented fashion.
"Vik, answer me."
"I stayed at a friend's house, okay? And no, we didn't have sex."
Lillian processed the information— his brother had friends. Before she could put on a filter, the words slipped from her mouth. "You have friends?"
Vik glared at his sister from the top of the staircase. "Yes, yes I do. Who do you think helped me with your birthday gift?"
"Your friend— she's a girl?" Lily asked, ignoring his question.
Vik nodded, then rolled his eyes and closed the door to his room behind him.
"Interesting," she mumbled to herself.

Kayla was his best friend, as well as his first love. He wasn't sure what love even was, but if it was the happiness that engulfed him whenever he was in Kayla's presence, he was in love.
Vik opened up his window and inhaled a deep breath, letting the scent of springtime fill up his lungs. He remembered the days he'd sit for hours, just staring out of the window, deep in thought.
He thought about his parents; they'd probably be ashamed of him— just wasting his life instead of getting over their death and moving on, but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't.
One of Vik's biggest fears had been being forgotten. Due to that irrational thought, he refused to let his loved ones go, he wanted to ensure that none of them would escape his mind.
No matter who it was, he could never forget them.
As long as they mattered in the first place, he would always remember.

April 5
One of the best things about having a best friend is having someone you can confide in. Unfortunately for me, my best friend happens to be of the opposite gender and the same person I may or may not be in love with.
She makes me genuinely happy, happier than I've felt in a long time. But it's a trap, isn't it?
I don't mean being friends with Kayla, I mean falling in love. The carefree atmosphere and the levity is almost suspicious. Almost.
It's interesting; I was a complete and utter mess before Kayla came along. She is my saving grace and I am eternally in her debt. It's like she helps me to find myself in midst of insanity. Kayla is rebuilding me, like a Lego house that has fallen apart. And if worst comes to worst, I can always break myself back down.
