When I got to the library, Nick was hanging up his phone. "Who you talking to?"
"Oh, no one," He was being very quite. It was natural that I was suspicious. "Come on, tell me who it was, please" I plead.
"It's not important," He really won't tell me. I try harder.
"Please, please, please" I pout.
"Its not important!" He gives his voice a tone of finality which means it's not up for discussion. It was a first time tone. I'm kinda pissed, he normally tells me everything.
"Let's ignore that, please," he asks, his face softening with guilt.
"Sure." I could push him, but I wasn't about to. I was hurt that he didn't trust me. After about 20 painful minutes of no talking, Nick spoke up.
"What you doing after school today?"
"I'm going to Audrey's house, with Gabi."
"Gabi Rodriguez?"
"Yes." What other Gabi is there?
"Oh, I didn't know you were friends" I guess Nick doesn't like Gabi either.
"She's not really my friend, but she's Audrey's friend."
"Why do I feel like Audrey guilted you into this?" He says with a small smirk forming on his lips. What the hell does that mean?
"What the hell does that mean?" Even though that was exactly what happened, I can't believe he had the audacity to even think of Audrey that way. I wanted to slap the smirk off his lips.
Ohhhhhhh, She's thinking about his lips.
Shut up, stop thinking about that, you're supposed to be mad at him.
"I didn't mean it like that," his faced softened again, but this time with worry "but you're always complaining about how she always makes you feel bad and stuff like that." I do?
"I do?"
His expression changed. "Uh, I'm not sure, um, I need to go to the bathroom."
"Umm, okay." I don't understand why he's so nervous all of the sudden. I was startled by Nick's phone buzzing and beeping with text message alerts. The sender was just a heart emoji. Meet me at the front of the school at the end of the day. Okay, babe?😘.
